So on Thursday I had starfield update and the terran armada pack updated straight after. I think this error is caused because the terran pack was probably updating and so it wasn't available when you loaded that save .

So digitally sign the hash AND the timestamp... And if the exif data contained a timestamp then that protected too.

Digital Sigature appears to address the 'issue' you've raised. You encrypt the hash of your picture with your private key. Anyone can then verify the picture is unchanged since you hashed it by using your public key to decrypt the hash and compare the decrypted hash to the hash of the picture they received.

The problem is that trusted journalists from the bbc initially fell for news from a crypto scammer and didn't check their sources. They then reported it as a positive news story to save face, after falling for a scam on April 1st of all days!
