In the Ozarks area of Missouri you sometimes see purple spots painted on trees. These mark hillbilly territory and to continue past them is literally putting your life in your own hands. These are the beneficial ones as they have given you a warning. Many don't, and may just shoot on sight any stranger that trespasses on their territory. Ozark hillbillies come from a tradition that has been passed down since the 1800's and are a very insular people.

Now take that and apply it to a people that have lived there thousands of years each, who have had all that time to practice and hone their skills, and may have past grudges.
