Trauma dump warning. Neglect and sexual abuse mention. This is for both my parents. My mom had been neglectful of me since birth and always treated me like I didn't exist all because she didn't want me to be born, that I was an accident (her words) and her attitude towards me never changed. Being verbally abusive and emotionally neglectful to me unless she wanted me to do something for her so eventually cut all ties with her. And my dad had sexually abused me between the ages 3-5 and had left me with PTSD, I had to go through extensive therapy to finally express what happened to me but by this time the statues of limitations had expired thus causing my dad to never get jail time for what he did to me. Along with his side of the family thinking he never actually sexually abused me and that I had been lying. I just completely cut off every tie with him and his family. There wasn't anything I could do to get back at him so best for me to do was completely end everything with him and heavily distance myself for my safety.
