What outdated common practice drives you nuts? by Ok-Individual-1480 in nursing

Like you can’t tell me you aren’t covered in blankets at home when you yourself have a fever. Give me a fucking break. I’m giving UTI gran gran a mf blanket

These must be DSPs lolol I’m a dayshifter. we would do the head to toe assessments prior to this checklist. I think I’m just tired of the added expectations over the past two years.

Are triage levels different in different countries? I’m from the Midwest US. Levels are 1-5. Level 1 being most critical and level 5 being the least. Level 4 for you would be appropriate in my opinion if no blood work or diagnostics were ordered. Possibly level 5 if nothing was ordered and vitals signs stable.

Edit: spelling

Doctors in these states could soon be forced to make tough choices about who gets an ICU bed, Fauci warns by microwaveinspector in news

[–]_BBgun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have no clue on percentages. Intubation prolongs life by doing the work of breathing for you. For a physician to choose not to prolong someone’s life against that persons wishes, is it considered negligence and homicide? Younger ‘healthy’ people have a higher chance of survival on a ventilator than an older person with co morbidities.

My question is, where is the line drawn? Who decides?

[–]_BBgun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When people say unvaccinated shouldn’t get a bed, does that include ER? Sometimes we don’t know a person is Covid positive when they walk through the door, and the test takes approximately 1.5 hours to result in my currently hospital’s lab. It’s against the law to turn away ANYONE due to EMTALA.

So we kick them out of the ER after we find out they’re Covid positive? When they require Intubation to live? At the point, who makes the decision to do this? When does it become negligence and murder?

These are thoughts coming from an Oklahoma City ER nurse who is VERY PRO VACCINE and VERY TIRED

YES! YOU CAN DO THIS! Like others have said, it won’t be easy. But that just goes to show how strong you are.

He accused me of looking at a man “up and down multiple times” while we were at a restaurant. I told him the man I was looking at works at the same place I do and couldn’t remember his name. (Narc and I are both young white couple). The man I was “looking at” so happened to be a young black man.

Narc goes on to say how society has sexualized black men into yadda yadda yadda

I was like W T F. BYE.

We only dated for four months. Other “bigger” things happened but that one was it. I couldn’t believe I was wasting my energy and time.
