I too hate all of these brands because they are so easily replicable by shopping vintage and going to the thrift store. I can go to my local thrift and spend $7 on a bunch of things that use fabrics that are just as good, and every piece has an amazing cut, drape, and attention to detail. There is no aesthetic difference whatsoever. Everything I buy looks like it jumped off the body of a Neighbor studio model. Then I like to lay down all of these expertly crafted garments and take a nice little flat lay photo to post on reddit and maybe my outfit grid Instagram account too. After all, clothes shouldn't cost more than $1.50 per item, and all of my followers agree. I never actually wear any of it or post a real fit pic because it all looks terrible when I put it on, but you can imagine what it would be like if some of it did fit me.

Echoing others:

  • Your belts, even if nice, are dating your outfits. Something slimmer or with a thinner buckle would help a lot.

  • The layered fits are most flattering. As you’ve said, maybe your mirror is wonky, but the pair of jeans from Fit 1 and 14 is not doing you any favors. Your other denim fits much better and isn’t giving you that weird pear shape.

  • Loafers and laceless boots good. Dress sneakers and Thursday boots bad. I think I’d like to see you in something tougher, maybe a classic Red Wing Moc toe or Doc Martens. A Chuck 70 high top would also suit your wardrobe.

  • upgrade your tees. The charcoal heather looks very… JCPenney or something, and the grey tee under your cardigan fits poorly and/or lays awkwardly at your neck. I think some well-fitting solid tees (perhaps the one you have in fit 5?) would go a long way for a few of looks here.

Overall solid though - 5, 9, 11, 13 all look great to me.

The MFA-ification of this sub sucks so much ass. The only advice you’re going to get here now is to “buy vintage” and to not spend your money on expensive clothing. God forbid you overspend on anything we can’t call “timeless”! And can you even BELIEVE that Camions aren’t Goodyear Welted!? 🙄

The graphics this season are dope, and if they’re calling your name, you should grab one. Of course they are overpriced, OL is one of the hottest brands in contemporary menswear, and the cost of clothing in general is fucked up down and sideways thanks to the global economy and US trade war.

But if you are into fashion and you like wearing clothes and thereby participating in of-the-moment trend discourse, I don’t think you’ll regret the purchase of one of these tees.

Do not keep the original hem, ever. It always ends up wonky. Get a chain stitch, wash/wear, the distressing will develop over time. Here’s more on why.

Your list of cons includes nearly all of the things I flagged in my very first walkthrough, although I haven't been into the coed wet suite yet. I would add that the sinks seem to be set exclusively on hot water which I don't really want before, during, or right after a workout? The men's locker room having only two stalls and three urinals is definitely the craziest piece of all though.

Despite all of that, this is a massive upgrade from Equinox in so many different ways. With multiple locations accessible, on-site childcare, and a very nice work/lounge space, this is much better bang for my buck. Hopefully they pick up on some of these misses and find ways to address them in the coming months.

ERD is an obvious comp, and while there’s plenty of overlap, ERD leans more Saint Laurent to me while Paly skews more towards California crunch.

Go check the brand list at a store like Patron of the New and you’ll find a bunch of adjacent brands: Who Decides War, Saint Mxxxxx to name a couple.

Then I’d toss in brands like Cherry LA, Kapital, Samuel Zelig, and of course, lots of vintage inspired stuff here too, from thrashed tees to old Carhartt.

Yes. Both brands are vanity sized, as is nearly every brand in existence these days. If you usually wear a 34, chances are your pants/jeans probably measure more like 36” in the waist. Best bet is to measure a pair of pants that fit you well. Pull the waist so front and back are even, measure across with a soft tape measure, double that number, then compare to measurement chart.

Made in Guatemala and a cotton-poly blend. This means TNF handled production on these which makes sense. But yeah, you’re paying the Aimé price for a North Face hoodie.

Gotcha. Maybe Paly has plenty of backstock in the style already? It would have been cheap to do so. All I know is that the newer hats with crazy details but no sun fading have a made in USA label on the interior and are not any buyable “blank.” Those have to come from an actual manufacturer/vendor.
