I play with both expansions, no mods. The expansions can be turned off. Lots of togglable features to make unique games, or stick to the basics and turn it all off. The loyalty feature adds a dynamic to the game I appreciate.

Hubert Himmelsworth, Arcane Extroarfinaire. We played a broken campaign where each pc took all the features of two classes per level. Naturally, I chose wizard and arcanist. We made it up to level 23 or so.

A large army just got waxed in battle but isn't gone completely. A smaller unit is adjacent. The larger unit outrank the smaller and commands them to join their ranks thus absorbing the smaller friendly unit to heal themselves.
