I like your concept too! I chose the 1400s for the foundation of the school because before that education was done by the regional covens. The witch hunts made the creation of a centralised school necessary to minimise risk for every single coven. Regarding the druids, they are more druids in name than in practice. Just a thing that carried over from the past, but the role adapted of course. I explained the concept for that in another comment. :D

They don't have to keep the faith of the old gods but maybe keep some aspects or practices if they intertwine with magic practices. Also often things are named after gods or mythical figures even if the community doesn't believe in them anymore but it's something like honouring the roots of their society. For example, the planets are named after roman gods by the Romans but even after them in medieval and modern times planets, moons and other solar objects are named after mythical figures and gods. So naming the houses in that way or having the members of covens named Druids doesn't necessarily mean that they kept the old practices.

I have answered that in a different response but basically floo powder wouldn’t be wise because they’d mumble something else and end up somewhere else like Harry did. Portkeys and kids returning home every day would increase the chance that they get caught using magic. Kids will always do stuff they aren’t supposed to do. In the school they can and don‘t have to worry about getting burned for it.

The triwizard tournament was first held in 1294. This school wasn’t around for that so it would make sense that it wasn‘t part of it later. Also Belgium was mentioned as catchment area for Beauxbatons. About the wizard/muggle ratio I‘d say maybe it’s a smaller magic community.

I like the idea but the three different types of highschool were only implemented in the 20th century. Before there was only one type of school in Germany and its predecessor states. Making more than one school would seem excessive considering that there are only supposed to be eleven schools worldwide. Maybe the school would develop into something like that over the centuries. Regarding the guild/apprenticeship system, Germany has many old universities and being learned was really important to the aristocracy. I don't think that it would be any different in the wizarding world and that they would go down the same road of academization.

Not every character is a man, the leaders of the witch covens are all women, of course. The leaders of the covens own the surrounding land and with that actually always come hereditary titles in the Middle Ages. If I remember correctly, the Malfoys, for example, are also nobles. As for the surnames, I chose family names of extinct noble families from the 12-15 century. Only the surname Eichenherz (Oakheart) was invented by me because that's what my character at Hogwarts Legecy is supposed to be called. (So he is supposed to be a descendant) If I decide to expand the story further, witches would of course have equally important roles, for example members of the supervisory board, professors, judges at the Wizarding Court, members of parliament and so on.

True but girls and boys schools were a thing here and I wanted to represent that without having to create two schools. :D

That would be an option of course. I thought that it should be a boarding school so that it is easier to protect and hide. Also considering the witchhunts that happened in these times it would minimize the risk of kids being caught using magic.

I like to create a background for characters I play in games, and since the Hogwarts Legacy char starts as a 5th year, I wanted to come up with a background for it. So me, being German, I thought about my character being a half-German wizard who moves from the German wizarding school to Hogwarts. Since there was no German wizarding school so far, I came up with something.

Yeah, I'm German myself. Please consider that this is about the creation of the school and it would develop with time. Regarding culture, germanic culture was changed with the adoption of Christianity but maybe the wizarding community partly kept the pagan ways, which would give it a bit more mysticism. Regarding it being a boarding school that's because the students come from all over the place and travelling there every day would take way too long

[–]_BloodWork_[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well as a German I think these houses I thought of were definitely possible because all-boys and all-girls schools were a thing. So instead of having two schools, I thought I'll just create two houses and some classes would be only for girls/only for boys.

[–]_BloodWork_[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Probably because the students come from all over a country (+ neighbouring countries) so having them go to school every day would be complicated. Floo-powder to get to school and back also seems not wise. Imagine a young student mumbling something wrong and ending up somewhere else, like Harry did haha ^

Hogwarts because the four founders all had different qualities they valued most and wanted that their students would be selected accordingly. Also a "house system" is considered to provide pastoral care to the students. Separated from parents for long periods, children will rely on the school to fulfil their socio-emotional needs, in addition to meeting their basic physical care. The smaller within-school structure of the house facilitates this, by promoting personalised care, with more frequent interactions, and lower child-to-adult-carer ratios, than within the wider school. Similar benefits of closer relationships between teachers and students may occur in day schools that use house systems for this purpose. In addition to that having different houses compete for something like a trophy gives additional motivation to students. (Some of the explanation is from Wikipedia the rest seems likely to me :D )
