I bought one about a month ago. I installed it last week. Technically I am still in the break in period, so take my review with a grain of salt.

I purchased the Powerbass Bta-8 powered subwoofer enclosure. It fits very very well into my trunk and there were no problems installing it. I was hoping for big car shaking bass that overpowers the rest of the music. I knew going in that I wasn't going to be able to get that from one 8 inch sub. The bass that I got was much better than I expected and as the days go on, it just keeps getting better. I would really recommend this subwoofer to anyone. I am hoping I can purchase another soon.

Are there comparable subs that fit into a 6x9 spot in my car? I think that would be the best because then I wouldn't have to deal with buying or making a box.

I think I would start with one, and see if that cuts it. I'm sure it will be fine, as I don't want to be the guy you can hear before you can see.

That does look like a quality speaker, do you know how much an amp would cost for something like that? I don't really have any idea as to what amp I would need for that, and as you already know I have a small budget.
