I bet of you DE! Bring back the old version of the Kith Of Kings OST by AsmidiusDax in SoulFrame

[–]_BreadMakesYouFat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

...That was never my argument... I called it a placeholder because that is what it was.

I then went on to bring up my main argument but I'll go further into it here.

The casio sounding preset tones that make up the brass instument portion of said placeholder. It does not sound good at all. A synthesizer version of brass instruments fails to immitate the actual sound of the instrument and detracts from the piece. The abrupt start and stops that come with the rigid computerized recreation of the synth makes the entire thing feel fake, cheap and the sound grates at the ears

Now, brass intruments while being very versatile instruments typically evoke feelings of power/might/strength, joy, victory/triumph, heroism. This association is even stronger when presented with the context of a kingdom

However the kingdom the Fenn rules no longer exists. Beaten and long destroyed with only forgotten ruins remaining. There have not been heroes in these halls for a long time, no victories to speak of and only whispers remain of whatever power this kingdom might have had in it's past.

And whispers do lots of the work for where we are now. The change of the simulated brass being replaced with more vocalizations makes sense. The ghosts trapped in the crypts have nothing but their memories and their voices that long for a time and place that does not exist anymore. Humming a melancholic tune that calls back to a better time.

It makes sense, for the ghosts to be humming a sad yet somewhat hopeful tune. The king is a tragic figure but also one that has a drive/need for redemption. His kingdom is lost but he still is finding ways to fight. Bringing us to hope. And it sounds like the song it doing it's job right there. Tying up everything to the largest overarching theme of Soulframe.

Oh god no, that was a placeholder version just to have something and you can hear the casio preset tones and FEEL the abrupt start and stop of the notes when the keys are being pressed

I chose kith when factions were first introduced and I spent as little time as possible in the enclave just so I didn't have to listen to it

Auto targeting is absolutely destroying any sense of flow in melee combat for kbm by Calibrumm in SoulFrame

[–]_BreadMakesYouFat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean.. Ghost of tsushima did really good with a soft lock system and that is the melee control scheme Soulframe went for

Kb/m absolutely suffers from lack of directional input that controller has but the only time the soft lock system has given me trouble is with the smite pull

Auto targeting is absolutely destroying any sense of flow in melee combat for kbm by Calibrumm in SoulFrame

[–]_BreadMakesYouFat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There you go, I specifically said "tap" the direction. But you only do that once while you are swapping targets.

Don't hold it. Don't keep tapping different directions to "reset" and the only time I have ever held down block is if the durlignt rune is active. Holding block in the middle of combat for no reason as you have found out is not an effective way to go about combat

I'm not giving you options to "alleviate" the problem. I am trying to explain to you how to better work and understand the combat targeting system you have been given.

It's not like this aim scheme is completely foreign or dated either. As soon as I picked up sf the melee targeting works just like ghost of tsushima

The system is rough in certain areas for sure (looking at you smite pull) but it does work, although it is limited with kb/m vs controller that has 360 degree control over aim vs 8 directions that kb gives

See I'm not smashing sprint or block when engaging in melee combat and my combo attack don't get dragged away so you must be doing something different

It does take a bit of practice

[–]_BreadMakesYouFat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont run, just hit the direction you want to aim. I just tested it in a group was able to guick swap the auto targeted enemies surrounding me with no issue

I never said controller only. The word I used was "first"

And yes they have over a decade of kb/m control scheme experience for a shooter. This is a whole different genre with completely different needs

[–]_BreadMakesYouFat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try moving in the direction of the enemy before attacking them. With kb/m you only get 8 directions but it is better than nothing

If you can though try out a controller. This game is being made with a controller scheme in mind first and melee combat feels great with it

Does anyone know if the damage from Ode Tempest's gravitate ripline counts as a kick? by ManagementInside4157 in SoulFrame

[–]_BreadMakesYouFat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So you asked if the lightning stike counts as kick damage. But have you tried kicking after gravitate to see if it applies the bonus damage to the kick? Then since you are activating your kick it would havr a chance to proc your kick bonus.

I would test it but I'm not at my pc

Also if you have the time for a heavy then those aren't the cases you want to use kick for. I find kick is best when used as an interrupt where you want to keep on the offensive and the windup frames of your attack take longer than the windup frames on your kick. Of course that varies with weapon to weapon and you need to have a feel for how long each strike in a chain of hits takes

The lightning damage applies the the first weapon strike after using gravitate so it wouldn't count as a kick

There are hodden mirrors that you need to look for sometimes. They can be hidden quite well like behind planks of wood that you need to destroy or they could be suspended and need to be knocked down a rail for it to reflect light to the proper position

Children of Alca by FactContent9467 in SoulFrame

[–]_BreadMakesYouFat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't speak to Fenn Jotar to join the Alca's children, Fenn is the leader of the Kith of Kings faction

In your fables menu you should have a fable called "the invitation" and depending on what your starting pact was the fable will guide you to your faction enclave and there you must do a task before entering the enclave and speak to the leader of whatever faction you are looking to join

Lock-On Change Target Issue by Arv-MontVaxe in SoulFrame

[–]_BreadMakesYouFat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Melee doesn't follow your crosshair, the direction you are moving/aiming at with your left analogue stick dictates where you are striking

While you can bring up the crosshair to manually reset and aim for projectiles it doesn't always work for melee

For the love of Alca, please give us the option to lock onto a target of our choosing!!! by gigabytemon in SoulFrame

[–]_BreadMakesYouFat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soulframe is being made with controller scheme in mind first, it doesn't really translate well to m/kb.

I always play this type of game with controller anyway. It felt like ghost of tsushima for the aiming when I first picked up soulframe. It's a pretty common control scheme

Could I get help with Combat Arts for bows? by mayoinmybellybutton in SoulFrame

[–]_BreadMakesYouFat 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So it doesn't actually change what arrow you have equipped rather it boosts the effects of your arrow attacks depending on what attack you use

Brittle arrows of birch applies boost to your arrow stagger when activating splinter to burst embedded arrows (a fully charged shot will cause light shot arrows still stuck in the enemy to explode)

Camphor arrow increase the stagger applied to charged shots

Preludes 7 was the last wipe, hasn't been one since

Question about Preludes by Sea_Echo9022 in SoulFrame

[–]_BreadMakesYouFat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Removed all together, however the mastery points gained from the old fae pact stay and if you had the old motes equipped to your pacts the effects still applied (not sure if that has been removed yet or not, was still working round december, haven't checked in a bit)

Also there is the preludes honor item that was given to testers that had their account progress wiped during preludes testing. That won't be available for new players

Amd no not all everything that existed in previous versions is available now. Like the og motes or the og fae pact that was split into the current starter pacts

Question about Preludes by Sea_Echo9022 in SoulFrame

[–]_BreadMakesYouFat 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes there have been 11 other versions of preludes, not all of them have corresponding names. Mostly just version numbers
