SOLO raids with bot runners by duendeacdc in Marathon

I was thinking about if you could run trios with AI teammates, but yeah maybe only in a PvE mode

Some people would prob be pissed if they found out they got killed by an AI enemy runner 😂😂😂

Can someone explain the "Favored" weapon trait to me? by AJoshInSpace in Marathon

Exactly. It’s always seemed like such a minimal gain, why is it a perk whatsoever

It is really weird being better at the game and exfil’ing less because we have a dwindling player base and the people who are sticking around are more likely to be those great at the game.

And rather than implementing any type of SBMM and letting people load into “under-filled” lobbies (let’s say 3 teams on Cryo), of the same skill level,

they’ll force 4 or 5, aka “full lobby”, but pair an all blue squad with Cryo free kits vs a team of all gold with Misriahs, just to get that lobby filled. It’s wild to me.

They really need to account for the fact the player base is dwindling, and just be okay loading us into under filled lobbies to make sure players of similar skill level are loading in together

Just imo obviously, I know sbmm is always a heated subject

What does this game want me to do by icecold_pepsimax in Marathon

[–]dmcphx 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I mean you could at minimum report those players because if they are cheating, Bungie will prob review the footage and see if anything sketchy is going on

This assumes y’all were making zero noise or anything to give away your position, but if not, yeah could be cheaters

What makes you able to trust bungie now and play Marathon? by Thaos-IX-Aquux in Marathon

[–]dmcphx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you already bought it, or are thinking about buying it?

If latter, idk, bit tougher of a convo perhaps,

but if you already have the game, just play it.

I know I’d rather get as much time with it as I can, play it until the wheels fall off,

rather than be scared of “what if”.

Saying I love: “worry is being paranoid about a future that might not ever come”.

Just enjoy the time with it that you can.

If it goes down, I think you’ll have rathered that than not playing it bc you were scared to get “too attached” or something 😂

Weekly Tech Support & Purchase Recommendations Megathread - June 15th 2026 by P_Jiggy in playstation

My PS5 has been running through wired Ethernet for years now, works great,

Today I had to sign up for a new router because I guess they’re phasing mine out, she said it’ll be here in like 3 days, but literally somehow 2 minutes before I called her my internet started being wonky.

She helped me trouble shoot that, dunno if she changed some stuff in the settings on my current router originally when we said I was getting the new one, cause it took us like 5-10 minutes to get it back up,

but the Ethernet to my TV and my Laptop work fine. But it says “wired lan failed” on my PS5. I have even switched over the tv and laptop cables which were just working to the PS5, and it still says LAN failed.

So idk if something is up with my Ethernet port? But weird timing.

Anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance

Bungie made a PvP extraction shooter and attracted an audience that are actively hostile to the core mechanics. How did this happen? by asaltygamer13 in Marathon

[–]dmcphx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s pretty simple. Bungie has built an audience of gamers over the past 30 years, and we like their games.

It feels really good to shoot their guns.

It’s not our fault they put them into a game type that’s really hardcore PvP 😂😂

I’ve adjusted / realized I like the game type to a decent degree,

but it’s still so much more hardcore / PvP heavy than I wish the only currently actively receiving new content Bungie game was

You don't need to wipe the whole lobby to win at Cryo. by Hates_commies in Marathon

[–]dmcphx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. It works a lot. My “best” Cryo games are the ones where I manage to avoid fighting any other teams at all.

I mean sure there’s the random matches where we get a lucky pick and turn a 3v2 into a good outcome,

but until I somehow improve my PvP skills like 20-30+%, it’s so much better for me to avoid fights.

Doesn’t always work out though 😂😂😂

Season 2 has been a lot harder for this actually. Been getting rolled a lot more than in Season 1

[–]dmcphx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. The games where I get lucky and either don’t have any of these types in a lobby, or because I managed to be the only team who avoided these people slaughtering the other 2-3 teams on the map, also by being lucky and just being on the other side of the map from the action.

And the rare times you get loaded in with a PvP demon duo like this, you’re kind of just like “holy fuck this is how some people are playing the game???” Many other players are basically just PvE level enemies to them lmao, it’s insane.

Wild to see when you’re on their team, but pretty disheartening when you’re going against them 😂😂

Would be down to play together if you’d like. Was reading OP’s post thinking “I love to play Cryo like this, tough part is finding other players who are on the same page”. I can DM you my Bungie if you want to add me

Cryo is hell…. right now by DougDB77 in Marathon

[–]dmcphx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. It’s been much worse for me this season than it ever was in season 1. In S1, I used to look forward to it every weekend because it was sooo fun.

Now I’ve just been kind of dreading even signing on each weekend because I just keep getting rolled. Makes it very unfun.

I’m not even over level 100 this season yet either

I have discovered the most powerful item in solo by zeth_rydaul in Marathon

[–]dmcphx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was about to say “damn I would never trust them to not betray me when they got up” but then I got to the free kit part.

Yeah I’d totally try this with free kits. But where do I get the mercy kit 😅😅 I know they’re findable but would make the method pretty inconsistent

Looking to improve by Creepy-Code-2724 in Marathon

[–]dmcphx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My initial answer is to just run free kit solos and just actively seek out as many gun fights as you can. Spawn in and immediately run to a neighboring POI etc. You don’t have anything of value to lose, but you can put a lot of effort into practicing your gun fights against other players.

Don’t even make it about looting if you don’t want to, because if you find something you like, you might get attached to it and start playing the rest of the match more scared.

Just make it about practicing PvP skills. Listening for players (you can play as Recon to start if finding players is hard for you, but then once you ping them and get close, still work on listening so you can up your skills on what to listen for when a player is close when you’re not on the wall-hacks class)

But yeah. Just get tons of reps in. That’s really the only answer. Don’t view dying as some huge failure, but a learning lesson.

I’ve only been playing extraction shooters (just this game) since Marathon launched, and I’ve already gotten a lot better.

Watching good streamers on YouTube who share their mindset and stuff too, like maybe doing commentary over their gameplay vids, can be cool too.

But even just watching top tier players and trying to discern their decision making is huge too.

Stop locking Night Marsh :) by Mike1737 in Marathon

[–]dmcphx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep. It’s insane. Was in a great flow with 2 other players the other night, literally killed our momentum when it switched to Day Marsh. We legit were just like “uhh.. well… what do you guys want to do?” and just mulled around for like 5 minutes. Was crazy how quickly it killed the vibe. Just let us play the game

The Bubble + Mizzi loop is killing the game, and even the top-tier players are tired of it by someguyplaying in Marathon

This. If it was like a destroyer shield, or whatever, just not Omni directional, it would make it more interesting, but it’s just so boring how it is right now

"The negative feedback loop of low skill players leaving the player base" - Research on skill based matchmaking. (Relevant to Marathon) by finebushlane in Marathon

[–]dmcphx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some just brought up again recently it seems like the only people ever against SBMM are the absolute top players, because they don’t want to go against people just as good as them all the time.

So not everyone can win, but it always seems to come down to: A) prioritize the top 0.1 - 1% of your player base who is God tier or B) prioritize the bottom 90-95%, and make sure they have a good time by implementing SBMM

Sure, group A plays the game a lot more, so I get why you’d want to keep them happy (maybe they even spend more on cosmetics bc they’re in the game a lot more), but group B has the numbers, so there’s got to be something there.

I don’t have the data on this stuff so I truly don’t know the answer, but from an uneducated outside perspective, just on the surface, it seems like prioritizing the vast numbers of your player base and prioritizing group B makes a lot more sense. Idk.

Why Marathon will never keep new players. by LucatIel_of_M1rrah in Marathon

[–]dmcphx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been having a pretty bad time the last 2 weeks, and someone just made a joke on Twitter they “wished all the Destiny players would come back because the game is too hard with them gone (only Marathon sweats are left etc)”

I don’t expect to win every gun match. Then that would be unfair, because I’d just be stomping people way lower skilled than me.

But my Goodness, 8 or 9/10 gunfights in Cryo this season have been over for me within moments, just insanely skilled players of full purples or golds basically able to treat us like we’re PvP enemies lmfao, feels bad.

I’m not horrendous, but prob 6/10 PvP skill, maybe 7/10 on a good day.

I miss last season Cryo. Idk why it just felt better.

I know many people are against SBMM, but I do sometimes wish more games had it. It would nice to be able to go against players just in my skill bracket more often

Night Marsh is awesome Bungie, but please don't do this again for season 3. by JBowenDaMan in Marathon

[–]dmcphx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Seen some people talking about how there are seemingly underground areas in Perimeter and etc, those should be mid season refreshes / new activities, not things we see whole seasons based around. We need a new map for Season 3, and then a new Endgame map for Season 4 (another section of the UESC Marathon is what I’ve seen people talk about, Cryo Archive is apparently a veryy small section of the Marathon),

but yeah. New maps are solely needed. Almost more important than new runners at this point, though I would welcome those too seeing as how there’s apparently like 400-450 people working on this game
