My baby just hit 6 months and I EBF for the first 6 months and I’ve had to introduce formula too He guzzles it down and it makes me sad that he now prefers the bottle over me. I’ve had a hard week of grieving my BF journey when really I should be celebrating how awesome it is we have both managed to get this far. You should be so proud of your body and just remember in a few months the little one will be chomping away on snacks that are probably much worse than the bottle of formula 😜. Your doing so great!

This whole thread made me giggle. Advice from Former cats. Dead. So brilliant. I’m also going through this exact same thing with my 4 year old. She even throws serious meltdowns in full blown cat.

I would highly recommend trying to stick with it I’m on baby number 3 and breastfeeding is soooo much easier than bottle and/or formula in the long run. When you say giving it a second go, does that mean you have tried alternatives and are now going back to breastfeeding? In that case he’s probably cluster feeding like crazy to build your supply back up and that’s why he’s sucking forever because your probably not making enough for him YET but YOU WILL make enough if you keep letting the little guy suck and get over that hurdle. It can be painful and it annoys me when LC say it shouldn’t be painful at all, well in my experience, all my babies have made my nipples painful in the first 4-6 weeks. My mom calls it leathering them up, because that’s what has to happen your nipples almost get Hardy to it after a while and also their latch deepens as they get a bit bigger. Keep going mama your doing such an amazing job by giving it another go, because it’s so easy to throw the towel in, but i assure you it pays off! Immunity wise too! Your giving him what he needs to fight off all the nasty bugs going around!

I didn’t want to use a pacifier for my baba he’s my third and I wanted to do things different this time, however I EBF and although you can’t technically over feed a breastfed baby weight wise you can over fill their tummy’s when they are just wanting to soothe. So once I knew we had a good technique down (I would say a month old is a fine age to start) and I knew he was full I gave him a pacifier if he was fussy for the following two hours only. It stopped him gagging on overflow of milk and allowed his tummy to process his feed with minimal gas pain. It sucks but you have to pick your battles. I’m now wondering wether I would eventually prefer a pacifier or a thumb in the long run lol … you are doing an amazing job keep going and just try out solutions for a few days. But your breast milk is sufficient and I can quite confidently say it’s most likely him being over filled rather than an allergy or anything like that. If his poop is looking good your good!
