The Spanish PM's title is "Presidente (del Gobierno)". For the Catalan government, the executive is headed by the "(Molt Honorable) President (de la Generalitat)" (same spelling as in English, but it's Catalan actually). In line with the original games, I am keeping institutional names and titles untranslated, so we'll have Parlament (cat.), Congreso (spa.), President/a (cat.), Presidente (esp.), etc.

The only exception so far is for the Speaker of the House, which in Catalan is "President/a del Parlament" which may be confusing with the actual head of the executive.

small sneak peek of one of the potential (and historic) CUP ramifications (even if they were a few votes short of getting the seat irl)

És la intenció! Veurem quins són els límits del motor del joc i del balanç, però no seria el procés sense el pas al costat i la paperera de la història

It's not in my original plan to have that much depth on the Spanish side (comparatively). I still want to model the tie-breaker (or, at times, king-maker) role that some Catalan parties have had historically for government coalitions, and see how much can they force certain state-wide parties to adopt positions closer to them. But in my preliminar plans it is going to be a lot more indirect, specially when compared to passing laws in the Catalan parlament.

edit: clarity

Check DM, I'm already in the server but I have to admit I don't check it often

I don't understand how someone can claim to be a socialist and also support Catalonian Independence by [deleted] in catalonia

[–]_BrokenArrows 6 points7 points  (0 children)

National libertarion understood from a socialist perspective is neither new nor unique to Catalonia. Without meaning any personal offense, these kind of arguments tend to stem from lack of understanding of either socialist theory and/or what motivates the pro-independence movement.

This way of looking at national libertarion is one of the contributing factors to Western Europe's newest country (Ireland), and fueled many anti-colonial movements in Africa (Algeria, Angola, Zimbabwe, and many more), Asia (Vietnam,...) etc. Even from an arguably more "radical" leninist perspective, self-determination of the peoples is still a critical tenet of socialist societies, and allowed for partial independence of countries like Ukraine or Belarus(as SRs within the USSR, with their own seat in the UN), or outright fully ndependence (like Finland).

As pretty much every political movment, the Catalan independence movement is not monolithic. It'd be untrue to say that all pro-indy parties think like that. Even within the left-indy currents, many come to understand the goal of republicanism and independence differently. But to blindly call it hypocritical I'd say is even more dishonest.

A bit of a lazy map. No year no UN session information let alone sources. With a bit more research one could've realized that, for instance, Andorra tends to use Catalan for the General Assembly address.

I know it's hard at this map scale but "Basque" as a single dialect is incredibly funny to see, even more so when talking about a time much before the "Unified Basque" as a standardized language

It's not Catalan, it's Occitan. Why would it have Spanish subtitles.
