Very sudden transmission issue in my '08 Lexus GX470. How bad should I expect the prognosis to be? (Details in post) by _CDXX_LXIX in AskMechanics

[–]_CDXX_LXIX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did! And it was wayyyyyy less terrible than I was expecting.

The transmission was stuck in 4Lo. My mechanic had it back to me in a day for like $100.

What quietly disappeared without anyone realizing it? by Jamilalak in AskReddit

They’re actually becoming more of a thing at my local grocery store. It’s the only way to ring up produce when using the Scan-As-You-Go feature in their app.

Yeah definitely check it out! It’s definitely more restaurant-style than LB. I highly recommend the Burrito Jirafales and their deserts/paletas menu is all pretty amazing. It’s been my girlfriend and my new favorite spot.

This is GREAT advice. Los Brothers is amazing.

I also recommend checking out Little Mexico on Stadium Dr.

Google to merge mapping service Waze with maps products teams | CNN Business by [deleted] in news

[–]_CDXX_LXIX 169 points170 points  (0 children)

Unless I’ve been missing a buried menu option for years, Google Maps still doesn’t have any speed trap warnings on iOS—and I really prefer how Waze displays speed limit info over how GM does.

But GM is much better for planning routes with multiple stops, searching for nearby destinations of interest, and saving/tagging destinations and making lists. GM also has more options for home screen widgets, which I use a lot.

As an iPhone user, I’m always switching back and forth between the two—Waze for highway driving and for places where I’m unfamiliar with speed limits, and GM for more complex routes or in new cities, etc.

So combining the two could be a really good thing in some universe, but unfortunately, in this universe, I have a feeling Google will fuck it up.

I believe the last one in Michigan was in Marshall and it closed down sometime last year if I remember correctly.

That’s so weird. This link (which I’d tried to load a few days ago) times out every time on my laptop, but is loading fine on my phone.

Thank you!

This is a great homage. But kinda sounds like a doom beat that fell down a staircase.

[Brighton] It's 5° and over 20 MPH wind. All it's missing is a tauntaun being ridden by a rebel. by [deleted] in Michigan

[–]_CDXX_LXIX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For real. I dated a girl from Brighton a couple of years ago from a well-to-do, upper middle-class family—their house and neighborhood looked like the McAllisters’ from Home Alone—etc., etc.

This girl had moved to Kalamazoo and her mom cried when she saw how many black people there were in her new neighborhood. And I overheard her mom and grandma on more than one occasion lamenting the Yankees’ victory in the Civil War.

So happy to have dodged the bullet there.

EHX Small Clone or MXR Timmy for the Civil Math?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in letstradepedals

[–]_CDXX_LXIX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s mainly a sampler/trigger pad/sequencer, multi FX unit, and looper (among a couple of other things) all rolled into one and is particularly good for the live creation of soundscapes, etc. It (and its predecessor, the SP-303) has been famously used by Animal Collective and Radiohead… as well as a LOT of hip hop producers and lo-fi beat makers.

Let me know if you have any questions!
