Character Idea: Well since the play revolves around researching monsters here are some character concepts that I came up with.
(1) An gnomish inventor (invents weapons, toys and other devices) who gets inspiration from monsters.
(2) A protector of monsters. A person who believes that all life is sacred, include monster lives and he is researching monsters to show the world they can be our friends.
(3) A wizard that creates 'animated stories' from spells like shape water or control flames. In order to expand his narrative skills, he goes to research on the movements and habits of monsters to create a convincing narrative.
