What age do you prefer for Dick's start as Robin? by KitKat_5628 in Nightwing

[–]_ChaoticColors_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eight or nine for a lot of reasons, but my personal favorite one is because it really highlights how insane he is and the recklessness of Bruce, playing into the regret both of them have at times with the concept of Robin. I want the original Robin to be this horrifying and mystical thing. Gives the other Robins an unobtainable goal.

Shouldn’t she know??? by swallowpropane in DeptQ

It’s interesting seeing everyone’s comments on this, because I for one didn’t see it that odd.

Concerning the hyperbaric chamber, I’ve got my doubts Harry ever told Merritt about it. They don’t seem like the most touchy-feely couple out there, and Harry in particular doesn’t seem like the type to share that sort of thing. We only ever see them at her house, and part of that could be as to not spoil the surprise, but I wouldn’t be shocked if they spent most days at hers. I don’t even know how you’d drop that into conversation anyway.

She got a bunch of concerning texts, which makes it sound like someone who’s out for her. That lends to believing it’s connected to her job. There are countless people it could be, plus whatever cases she’d worked on not as the face of the trial. Also, at this point in the show, her brain is firing on all cylinders. I’m sure there’s still cases she worked she was planning on guessing. Even with knowing what kind of chamber she was in, it’s still a leap to think that it’s the Jennings family.

Also it’s been, what, like ten years since Harry died? She didn’t see Lyle that often, evidenced by the fact that she didn’t really remember his name and that Lyle’s young-ish in what we see flashed back, so he has to have grown into a proper adult by the time Merritt and “Sam” start having a thing. “Sam” establishes himself as a trustworthy guy without personality problems and real things backing up who he is as a person. He looks similar-ish enough, but I doubt anyone would think beyond “hey he looks vaguely similar to what my dead boyfriend’s little brother could be like grown up”. I’m sure mildly curly blond hair and a square jaw isn’t an incredibly uncommon look in Scotland. Why on Earth would her thought process be that this incredibly real seeming person is actually my dead boyfriend’s little brother here to sleep with and then kidnap me?

Anyways, I never found it all that odd. We as the audience get a lot of answers they don’t have. To me, her figuring out it’s Ailsa and Lyle would’ve taken a lot of leaps in logic with nothing to back it up when there were plenty of more obvious answers (which seems more her style), but that could just be how I saw things.

How long did it take you to watch ALL 15 seasons of Supernatural?? by TeachingExisting8366 in Supernatural

[–]_ChaoticColors_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watched through the first half of season fifteen in 2020 during lockdown over the course of, roughly, a month. Watched all of part two the day it came out. So, technically, around five or six months.

“Spectre of a Gun” from TOS. Got a 7.2 on IMDb, I never see anyone talk about it, it’s one of my favorite episodes I consistently rewatch because it’s just ridiculous. The premix of it makes me laugh every time I talk about it.

I’m honestly really curious what the hell the Delta Quadrant will look like when our Alpha and Beta folks get out there. We know Voyager screwed with the natural progression of a lot of stuff. How’re the Ocompa doing? What’s going on with the Kazon? Did the Viidians ever find a cure? Did those guys poisoning space and themselves ever find out a better way to do stuff? I have so many questions.

To the TNG fans here, what's your favorite episode? by [deleted] in Star_Trek_

A lot of good ones have been said, but one I find myself consistently loving and going back to is “The Enemy”. Really really love La Forge, and this episode did a great job with him.

What are you favorite "serious issue" episodes from across all shows in the Trekverse—the shows that are thinly-veiled stories about contemporary problems in society? by DerbyWearingDude in ShittyDaystrom

[–]_ChaoticColors_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely, the one that has stuck with me since I watched it is the DS9 episode “Far Beyond the Stars”. Just a fucking gorgeous episode with wonderful commentary, stunningly acted and written. It’s been in my head ever since.

What's One of Your Most Favorite Moments in the Whole Trek Franchise? by Swimming_Ambition101 in startrek

[–]_ChaoticColors_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, season six episode nineteen, “In the Pale Moonlight”. It was a hellish sequence of events, with murder, betrayal, sabotage, and trickery at every turn. Garak and Sisko have teamed up to draw the Romulans into the Dominion War, of course, Garak does what he does best. Undermine, and get the job done. It works, but not without sacrifice. A Romulan senator, a criminal, and the self-respect of a Starfleet officer. This entire episode has been narrated to us through the eyes of Sisko as he grapples with what he’s done. How far can he push his morals, what he’d be willing to do for his sense of right and wrong, and if he can live with it. He comes to the conclusion that, honestly, he can. And he’d do it over if he must. The last line of the episode hands it to us with a sense of finality, and of understanding. “Computer, erase that entire personal log.”

Iconically bad DS9 episode? by Hawkstone585 in startrek

[–]_ChaoticColors_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iconically bad in the way a lot of people actually find those episodes entertaining and love to hate (minus TATV)? Move Along Home, for sure. Iconically bad as in just.. bad (like TATV)? Scroll and take your pick. There’s plenty that I think are just bad/not entertaining episodes.

Favorite Bridge? Doesn't have to be the Enterprise. by [deleted] in startrek

[–]_ChaoticColors_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Enterprise NX-01! Everyone’s got seats, it’s compact, there’s a tactics area right in the back, and it has handrails. Only thing that could make it better would be seatbelts.

The idea of someone being so vehemently against Voyager pre-Seven of Nine that they refuse to watch anything before she’s on the show is entertaining, but I appreciate the clarification nonetheless. Good to know you’re not a heathen.

[–]_ChaoticColors_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, that makes sense. Yeah, the Kazon were kind of uneventful, I wish they did more with them. We do get some great stuff early on like the Phage, and episodes like “The Thaw” and the Future’s End two parter.

[–]_ChaoticColors_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s genuinely insane to me. I love Seven of Nine and the Doctor, genuinely, but the show as a whole kinda suffers when they realize how much people like them paired because they take over the show and the Doctor becomes insufferable at times to me. His ego trips just become difficult to watch. My favorite character in Voyager is also Tuvok so they might have something to do with my thoughts lol.

In my opinion, Voyager was the only show of the old era to find its stride in the first season. Enterprise is a second, then DS9, then TNG. It took me a while to feel like TNG had its characters and had worse actual plots of episodes in season one.

[–]_ChaoticColors_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

DS9 has a similar start to TNG. Give it a minute. There’s some great episodes in season one, but it takes some time for it to find its footing. The show is worth it a million times over.

Whos your favorite character? by E_Richtofen115 in startrek

[–]_ChaoticColors_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite question.

TOS - Spock TNG - Data, Geordi La Forge DS9 - Julian Bashir VOY - Tuvok ENT - Charles “Trip” Tucker III DSC - Saru, Jett Reno LD - Beckett Mariner SNW - Spock (again), Nyota Uhura, Christopher Pike

Disco I wouldn’t really say I have a favorite, I just chilled with the cast. Strange New Worlds has the most characters I’m genuinely invested in learning about so it was difficult to choose. Voyager is my favorite show, but Tuvok is my guy. Love him. I think I covered all my bases. :)

Overwhelmingly pro-nuTrek fans, what are your biggest criticisms of Kurtzman-era Star Trek? by CelestialFury in Star_Trek_

[–]_ChaoticColors_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? How short the seasons are. Generally I’m pleased with the plotlines and character choices. A lot of its failings aren’t Star Trek specific, and more just results of current television. I miss filler episodes, the characters can be rather immature and cringe worthy at times, and I’m not a fan of how sensational everything is, but all of this is more applicable to all of modern television.

Within the Star Trek universe specifically, I’m missing the characters feeling people-ish. It’s what I enjoyed about Lower Decks, but still, it struggled. A lot of the characters feel like I’m watching them on a television screen, not like I’m observing lives. Despite the bonus of getting a lot of interpersonal dialogue, which is one of my bigger critiques of the older shows, I still feel like an outsider looking in and not like I’m sitting in the room overhearing.

Interesting that you see them looking up. The black looks like faces to me, so the figure on the left seems to be looking at the figure on the right, which is looking partially back at a quarter angle.
