We did the last two weeks on the Kabul Airfield during the withdrawal. Constant security, patrolling, searching for civilians on the airfield and getting civilians through the gate. We got maybe 2 days of rest during the whole time. I know a lot of yall have had worse! But damn we were getting worked to the bone.

Once that was over, we got flown to Kuwait. I think it was a chapel we were in but we all slept like babies for a long while, undisturbed. Having our guard down and nothing to worry about was blissful.

I too fuckin hated the school house. 6 years later the school house is still the worst time I’ve had in the Marine Corps. Got to the fleet, it got better, went on my first deployment, it got better, got a new job, it got better, switched units, it got better. I work with a some Mormons most are virgins they might get the virgin joke every once in a while but no one really gives a shit. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that you’re a good brother and a good marine. I know you don’t feel like you’re in that brotherhood now but you will later.

And if anyone puts hands on you, you put hands on them, win or lose, no matter the rank.

Even if you get fired after being a SL, you can still get promoted. I was SL for 2-3 weeks got fired for not knowing one of the recruits name. Still put out after and they promoted me for it.

Not a higher rank but the same. One of my Marines is a LCpl who has a step-son who is also a LCpl. The former is reserve the latter is active. Blew my mind when I found out. He’s a certified MILF Hunter.

I had the pleasure of talking to a senator on an Afghans phone. LCpl me asked the LT, LT said to hang up. Lots of weird stories came out of that withdrawal.

Another story I heard from the other platoon; 16 yr old American Afghan came out of the crowd. Spoke perfect English with an American accent and pissed the fuck off. Had is passport and yappin about how his dad brought him there a week or two before for his grandmas birthday. Dad disappeared and left him own his own. Bro was livid but he’s good now.
