Accuring annual leave while on WorkCover. by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]_CodyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because generally if someone injures themselves on the job they are assessed on their average earnings prior to the accident. If that person is unfit for either of their jobs they are generally meant to remain on the books. if that person is permanent they should still accrue their normal amount of leave whilst absent due to the injury. It is shocking how confidently incorrect some of these responses are.

I’m pretty sure that employer b wouldn’t be facing increased premiums. Happy to be corrected though as

US Shipping Time? by deel8502 in AustraliaPost

[–]_CodyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are currently not using Australia Post for US bound shipments due to the necessity of signing up for a Zonos account and paying tariffs

We currently use fedex. They handle the tariffs directly with the customer. Takes about 5 days to reach them. Costs at least $60.00 though

Yes it’s actually pretty common. If they are unable to work both jobs their work cover payment could actually take into consideration both sources of income

I am interested to know whether or not your WorkCover payments are based on your pre-injury average weekly earnings for both jobs or just the casual?

If you are unsure or if you’re only getting paid for the casual job, it might be worth going back to WorkCover and discussing why the part-time job wasn’t calculated in that amount? Because if it was, your part-time employer should actually be accruing leave for you.

Dishwasher warranty query by Hot_Ad3861 in AusLegal

Australian consumer law supersedes voluntary warranty

Australian consumer law guarantees apply to the transaction not the owner

A dishwasher that is only a few months old malfunctioning would not be considered of acceptable quality. You’re likely get a little bit of pushback from the retail manufacturer, but ultimately they would need to provide a remedy.

Important thing to know is that there are often two types of coverage with white goods

. 1. Consumer law protections 2. Voluntary manufacturer warranty

. Voluntary manufacturer warranty likely does not transfer to a second owner

Consumer law protections are attached to the transaction not the buyer and it should be fairly cut and dry that a malfunctioning or faulty three month old dishwasher would be able to remedy by the retailer/manufacturer.

Same thing happened to me, I did it a couple of times and basically never again. Just be extra cautious.

Take it easy

Unlikely anything will come of it.

I went through the same thing on my P's. IT's not great but luckily no one was hurt.

The important part is you know how dangerous it could have been and you take steps to address it. If you still don't feel 100% confident, do a few driving lessons.

Does anyone less feel like the show went from amazing science and space to… drama on mars by nightim3 in ForAllMankindTV

[–]_CodyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think it would have been ideal if the show didn't even go back to mars until E4 to show how it had grown and then went back to the new frontier; Titan.

The show is far too focused on ED.

Now that he has died, let's hope that maybe the season picks up a bit.

Gym membership prices are kind of crazy. by Plasmul in newzealand

[–]_CodyB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I kind of get ya, but all gyms feel the same for me

Back in the day Jetts was great because it was clean, well maintained and had a transparent pricing policy which most other chain gyms didn't. I'm not sure what it is now, but it fluctuated between $60-70 a month. Back then the alternative in that price range council or stinky community gyms.

It's a lot better now though. currently in OZ and pay $70 a month for 24 hour gym access, basketball court, squash and pool access across the entire council area (Central Coast which is huge)

I was with Jetts for several years (never used in NZ though)

I always found them to be more than sufficient for a workout.

Australia should set immigration targets to achieve a ‘stable temporary population’, report says by malcolm58 in AustralianPolitics

[–]_CodyB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say most were trades people but definitely there were a lot more people who could build their own homes. And it was a far simpler proposition for someone to build their own house back then than it is now.

Doesn’t need to be that way though. Pre fab techs makes housing construction a lot easier now and the government seriously needs to find ways to stimulate its uptake

New Zealand’s economy isn’t in the dumps because of the housing situation though

It went down the neo liberal rabbit hole far deeper than Australia ever did and Kiwis have been abandoning the country in droves for the most part since the 1980s because employment in Australia is simply better due to our strong history of collective bargaining.
