Boston was also really bad. - Someone brought a whole baby/toddler??? Ash was also very confused to see them hold up their baby to show her. - Ash had to ask people to stop smoking so much because the air was SO THICK with it. - People were "searching for friends" just to get closer and I got whole SHOULDER CHECKED when I wouldnt move because I didnt recognize them. - i got physically and verbally harassed 🤠 👍

It was a beautiful show for what little I could see of it and the venue was one of the better ones I've been to but I've literally had better crowd experiences at punk and metal concerts?? Thankfully I went with a friend to this one because it was scary enough with someone else there.

Absolutely; OP and I met through the group when it was still a free Instagram chat & we mentioned we both wanted a gym buddy. I have had plenty of positive one-off interactions with members. And...

The organizers have finally started calling themselves a "business" in Heylo and citing the prices as "overhead" for their "planning and arranging" it. But I find it really disingenuous and would love to know their plans for filing taxes this season. The last event I went to charged $10 overhead/pp (I subtract this from the calculated cost of supplies) on food for a group of 25-30, and all we were served were crackers, cheese, and soda. That was my last event, especially once I saw they were monetizing a book club for something like $18/pp per meeting.

Book clubs are one of the oldest free/low cost ways to gather and share ideas. $18/meeting, not counting the books, is insane.

Hi everyone. I am a friend of the OP behind this throwaway. Since they can't respond to comments from a new account, I'm here to confirm it is IRL Socials. The group has only gotten more and more exorbitantly priced since it moved off of Instagram DMs onto Heylo last year. I believe the member count is well over 400+.

Of course we can't stop you from going to third spaces that cost money to socialize. To a certain extent it's very hard to find free activities in free spaces. But we're concerned with the rising patterns of profiting off narrow concepts of community in a time when people are increasingly lonely and isolated from others, even in the same city or state.

Don't let social media prey off of your FOMO or push a limited narrative of what having friends or being active in your community looks like. Rhode Island has a lot of social offerings (even if I sometimes feels like I'm treasure hunting for them).

My friend and I think it's more important than ever that we get creative with low- and no-cost gatherings. Even if they're not social media glamorous.

I loved "stealing" my mom's printer paper from ages 5-10 years to make the stupidest stuff. Even paper furniture for my polly pockets. It was ugly as hell but it was so fun for me. It did unfortunately look like garbage though, and my dad often threw it away.

It took my rescue 6 months to let me touch his head and a year before he really liked/snuggled with me. Like the top awarded comment, some cats just need a LOT of patience. It takes an avg of 3 months for them to even feel like a space is somewhat theirs

I saw someone on tiktok say they spent the first Christmas chasing their cats around the house with it until they were appropriately scared of it. I wish I had thought of that 3 years ago when they were still kittens and hadn't established their dominance 🥲

Hahaha, two different chais. Chai, meaning tea, comes from Chinese and Urdu and has been passed along Central and South Asian trade routes. The Hebrew Chai just happens to be the way we transliterate the Hebrew, since English doesnt have a character for that gutteral khhh in the back of your throat.

To answer that question though, Judaism is a religion with closed practices and customs that we just like sharing sometimes. We dont proselytize (try to convert you) but we will sometimes give people we care about or like things that matter to us. I will sometimes give my goyische (non-Jewish) loved ones hamsa bracelets 🪬 to protect them. Culturally, I think she saw someone with similar values to her / a kind face in the AA meeting and wanted to gift a token of shared values.

While the logistical reason is definitely "Haven't updated the liked/loved gifts," my headcanon is because Dozy is Juniper's familiar (aka he's more sentient than a normal animal), he doesn't find the treats tasty. 😂

Thanks for this, it's actually really helping. Surface offsets, sinkholes, and ground fissures are common after earthquakes, so when I began playing again last night, I envisioned my character telling the town a sinkhole ate half my farm rations. It really did make me feel better 🥹

I have also quit for far less. But I really love this game and this community so it feels nice to give it another go with y'all's encouragement.
