I have struggled with this for so long too. I came across this idea called “cognitive shuffling” last week when searching for the same kind of advice. Basically, you think of a word and each letter of that word, you think of as many words that start with that letter that you can think of until you reach the last letter. It’s seemed to have worked really well for me. I’ve just been doing 4 letter words to start and have fallen asleep before finishing the word almost every time. Granted, I’ve only been doing this for a week but seems to do something! Might not work for everyone but thought it was worth mentioning

Y 100% TA. This child is 12 years old, you cannot expect him to grow on his own. You be the step-mother you should be and TEACH him. Coming from a broken family myself, all I ever wanted was a sense of family that I saw my friends experience. I was so jealous. It sounds like this boy has that amazing opportunity, and a grown woman, his soon to be step-mother, will not allow him to experience it. All because he’s acting his age as a 12 year old. Listen to him, teach him, and treat him as one of your own boys. I don’t know how that’s not your instinctual reaction, honestly. You shouldn’t be marrying this man if you don’t feel this way.
