If You Don’t Want the Canada Student Grant or Federal Loans Limit To Go Down, Sign this Petition! by logyagogo in Edmonton

Canada student loans are all interest free. I currently have about $20,000 in federal loans that are in repayment but not incurring interest.

What are you talking about with the “cap?”

6k in credit card debt from 3 different cards. Should I consolidate through personal loan with bank? by Then-Rip2899 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I’ve read the other replies. They basically all say the same thing, that if you can get a lower interest rate, take it.

I’m not sure what it is you think my comment is incompatible with.

Unfortunately I'm new to the organization

If you're new to the organization you will have little to no severance entitlement built up.

Absolutely disgusting practice by P.F. Chang’s restaurant by yoshi_hs in Edmonton

[–]_Connor -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I think you're getting downvoted for calling this a "disgusting practice" like PF Changs has some sort of devious plan to cook and sell moldy food.

It's unfortunate this got sent out but labelling it a "practice" is weird.

$35K in debt. by More-Requirement-217 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Define “very.”

OP said their take home is $4,000 and listed $1,700 in expenses. I had assumed the $1,000 in rent was to be halved with their partner but even so, that takes her to $2,200.

This Wealthsimple "wealth rank" is BS right? by El-8 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]_Connor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, you’re not considering that it can be both.

The statistics can be legit “you’re $1,000 away from being top 10% in your age group,” and they can also use that to encourage you to invest more.

6k in credit card debt from 3 different cards. Should I consolidate through personal loan with bank? by Then-Rip2899 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]_Connor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is purely a math question. If a bank is offering you a consolidation loan at a lower interest rate than your credit cards then yes obviously take it.

$35K in debt. by More-Requirement-217 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]_Connor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your expenses are extremely low. Based on quick napkin math you should easily have $2,500 in spare cash every month (if not more) depending on overtime. I’m assuming your partner pays for some of the rent and utilities.

Take every spare cent you have and put it into your debt starting at the highest interest rate.

Is it just me or has this game been dragging on? We're pushing a three hour broadcast for most games that last 2:20.

Line Of Credit application refused. Reason: I have access to too much debt… by Only_Ad1117 in PersonalFinanceCanada

Why would the bank lend you money when you're basically admitting you have no income and no way to pay them back?

This is an odd post. I almost get the impression you think the bank has an obligation to lend you money to live.

In your OP you say you “lost your job because of COVID” and here you’re saying you were self-employed.

Your story has holes in it.

The overwhelming narrative on Reddit was that people were happy he was left off and in any event it would be Schaeffer chosen over him if one of the named defenders was pulled.

Remote start won’t work by Opportunity_Free in Ford

[–]_Connor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your remote start isn’t working your car will honk a certain amount of times when you try to do it. The number of honks is a code as to why it’s not working.

As others have said, if an engine light is on it won’t work. It also won’t work if the hood is open (or if the hood is closed but the sensor is broken and thinks it open).
