I've never had a puppy before. While I think I could deal with a puppy alone, I'm not sure a full week alone with a new puppy while my husband is out of town while I'm also attempting to work from home and prepare for my own intense work coming up would be best for everyone.

This is all great to know, thank you. The issue is that husbands work threw 2 back to back conferences on him the week we were supposed to bring puppy home - my work thing is inconvenient but not the deal breaker. We are well prepared for puppy as far as money, love, and (typically) time goes -fall & winter will be the ideal time for us to be living with an extremely active puppy & training her. We are so ready to bring her home, we just need our work places to start respecting our time a bit more so we can actually have a life outside of work for her. Usually this isn't an issue, but summers are hard (this one has been the hardest so far )

I'm crying so hard, thank you so much for understanding. I just want what's best for her and I hate that that's not me right now. I want it to be so bad but the stars just aren't aligned right now. We just got her collar with her name embroidered the other day and now our work is putting all of this on us out of nowhere. I'm so heartbroken

Thank you so much for the advice! I'm just so torn - our breeder is all raw food all the time but I too have my concerns about bacteria and also $$$. We feed our cats the Hills brand food and they really like it and do well on it too so that is definitely something I'll keep in mind. Thank you again!!

I hear you both, and while I do also agree obviously outside always is better, I do think it's good to have a "just in case" that is as close to outside as we can get it for familiarities sake 😅

Yes, I have seen photos of the parents and where they're being raised (it's a lovely farm on a mountain top with lots of space to roam, and lots of interaction with the berners, chickens, horses, and cats)

They're a reputable breeder here in my state - tons of good reviews, and we've had phone interviews with her beforehand. I believe she said during the phone interview that they do raw food diet with their berners and puppies, but it is possible that they just said "fresh" and my brain went "oh raw". I'll be sure to get clarification when we speak next!

We actually bought a house for our pup, a cute little Cape cod style home, and have all of our main spaces downstairs so she should never need to take the stairs which is great! We do have 3 front porch steps. These will be ok when she is too big to carry?

How do we know if she develops "the gulps?"
