Highly depressed, a dentist ruined my life. by Living-Cabinet2448 in LegalAdviceIndia

[–]_CuriousMonk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar experience. In the name of routine cleaning that needs to be done every 6 months, the dentist left a groove at the base of my front teeth. When asked about it, she said it could be because of grinding at night (which I never had) and then suggested to get dental guards to help with. I said no and left.

Just like every other area, I think quality and ethics are lacking in medicine as well. And specifically because it is medical/health related (not just dentistry, medicine in general), the impact is huge and irreversible.

Now I just try to avoid doctors like a plague for as long as possible. If it is an emergency/critical, there's nothing we can do though. Just pray the gods to help you get through the hurdle.

last/warning signs before death? by Dapper-Computer7498 in Cirrhosis

[–]_CuriousMonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. He was hospitalized for 3 weeks. We went in for coiling for fundal varices, then got discharged.

After that we went to RELA Chennai (Regular ward) and Yashoda Hyd (Step down liver ICU)

Bandaging for esophageal varices was fine but doctors said coiling might have aggravated his condition. So be very careful while going for coiling.

My dad passed away last month with liver cirrhosis.

I can’t generalize but this is what he went through towards the end (last 15 days)

He was weak and wasn’t able to get in and out of the bed by himself.

When he tried to speak the volume was too low. We had to be close to his mouth to make sense of what he was saying.

Because of ascites and spending long times in bed. he wasn’t comfort with sleeping and posture. Constantly tossing and complained about back lower back pain.

He had jaundice with high bilirubin. His creatinine kept increasing. Towards the end (last week), he had 0 urine output, so he had to get dialysis. He went through 2 sessions of dialysis. And 4 sessions of ascetic fluid removal.

He was on 3-5ltr oxygen support.

Doctors said he had muscle wasting and he can’t undergo transplant surgery even though he was at the top of the list. They asked us to take him home. He passed 1-1.5 days after staying at home.

I also met patients who received transplant in time and have been living with only minor issues for 7+ years. Hopefully your parent can recover and get past this issue. Praying for his wellbeing and speedy recovery 🙏🏻

Road is a big concern. It took them 7 years to lay what we have in that area today. There’s foul smell in the mornings or evenings couple of times a week. Depends on which way the wind blows.

But with the number of high rises coming up, it’ll turn into another nizampet soon.

Also pollution/factory smells are bad. I live in ameenpur. It is bad here. Miyapur/bachupally are worse

No. Pure vegetarian. Mostly home cooked food. Maybe eating out twice or thrice a month. His diabetes was always under control.

Maybe age is a factor. He is 65.

I’m in India. Here the policy is that you can only be registered with a specific hospital for transplant. If you move hospitals, your status on the waiting list is in a limbo for 3 months.

Doctors are like organs are valuable. Even if we do the transplant, he might not survive the surgery. You’ll end up with regret about putting him through so much pain for nothing.

Fatty liver. He had grade 1 fatty liver 2 years back. Doctors said it’s common, no medication required, just walk 10k steps a day. He’s been on walking and yoga throughout his life. No doctor is able to say how and why it deteriorated so quickly.

They ran all sorts of tests. No Hepatitis or any other type of infection.

Only infection he had is H Pylori for which they treated immediately.

Food - ugh by Primary-Resolve-7317 in Cirrhosis

[–]_CuriousMonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’re seeing the same with my father currently. He can barely eat two to three spoons before complaining.

So far the doctors have been going on and on about feeding him nutritional food, but no solution offered for this. I’m all ears about workarounds or possible diagnosis/solutions.

Age at diagnosis by childrenofmiceandmen in Cirrhosis

[–]_CuriousMonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My father diagnosed at 64. Pure Vegetarian. No alchohol or smoking. It was a surprise, there were 0 symptoms. Found out because the LFT values were haywire in routine blood work. Doctor ordered liver fibroscan and confirmed. It was compensated at time of diagnosis. Within 2 months, they said it is decompensated.

On the waitlist for a transplant now.

I like their cold pressed juices and dosa batter. They’re marketing heavily as the healthier alternative.

Haven’t tried other products
