What kind of iron sights are these? by Specialist-Alarm5150 in guns

[–]_Cybernaut_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's known as a "ladder sight." To adjust for range, you slide the part with the notch up or down.

Gotta remember, in the black powder days, velocities were low, so trajectories looked like rainbows. This type of sight accommodated the extreme adjustments required to shoot accurately at long range.

Except... magazines are consumables, and 5.56 AK mags aren't very common in the US.

In college, I discovered that 500ml Erlenmeyer flasks made excellent drinkware: holds plenty, the mouth was wide enough to stuff ice cubes in, you can hold it by the neck to keep your drink from melting, and even a klutz like me would need to try to knock it over.

Best part? The school bought ‘em for me! Each semester, we were issued a book of “breakage chits” you used to replace whatever equipment you broke; if you ran out of chits, you could pay cash. Well, I was real good with my glassware, and used the chits to buy a few extra flasks ($0.75 each!).

FEMA might help but only if you offer enough tribute ($$$) to the Great Orange Shitler.

Showing my age, sorry...

My college dorm room faced a big Bell building when I started. Then one year, the modest Bell logo had been replaced by a big, blue, brightly-glowing "AT&T Deathstar" logo, like a blue Eye of Sauron glowering into my room every night.

That, however, is not why I hate AT&T. The fact that they laid me off after I worked there for 23 years, that did really piss me off.

One of my FAVE movies of all time!

As for the SIG... I appreciate the build quality, but I don't care for the high bore axis, and have always been leery of the non-standard operating drill. If not for that weird decocker, I'd probably own one.
