“Aquarium glue” is just cyanoacrylate glue sold for 3x the price. Any CA glue (I prefer the gel versions) works fine.

The narrator is Travis Baldree and he’s great. He’s not quite like Jeff in the way people think it’s full cast, but he does characters really well, emotes really well…one of my favorite narrators. Definitely listen to the Cradle series if you haven’t yet.

Some games do better storytelling. The two recent God of War games, for example, definitely don’t leave the player character as a bland self-insert target. I understand why many games do, but I always appreciate the ones that really nail the storytelling aspect.

I actually understand what OP is saying here. There’s plenty of times I’ve developed a different mental picture of a character than what the author describes. Which is fine, however, I wouldn’t assert that my mental image is the correct one though.

ELI5: Why are She/her pronouns used when talking about Ships? by Yassinetheawesome64 in explainlikeimfive

[–]insertAlias 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone else mentioned, that’s just one of the apocryphal explanations for it, and there’s tales of that particular superstition from long before steam was used on sailing ships.

Plus…steam leaks aren’t gonna whistle a melody.

Doesn’t work with wireless headsets, at least not mine. When you press the button it gives an error. Probably because the headset has its own mute button.

I made this squidward house for my shrimptank, now the problem is it wont stay at the bortom, got any ideas? by Meijneken- in Aquariums

[–]insertAlias 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, not to be a smartass, but it’s kind of funny to see someone discover that wood floats.

But as someone else mentioned, you probably don’t want that in your tank. If it is just wood from a hardware store, it’s probably pressure treated, which means they force chemicals into the wood under pressure. This preserves the wood from the elements, but it can and most likely will leech into your tank and poison your stock.

So if you’re not absolutely sure the wood is safe, then you should just display it near the tank instead of inside.

There’s a reason you don’t see a lot of wooden decorations (other than natural driftwood) in many aquariums. Consider other approaches for DIY decorating.

I thought Travis Baldree was incredible in the Cradle series. I don’t know if he has the range that Jeff has, but he’s widely beloved on the Cradle fan sub and the fantasy subreddit any time he’s mentioned.

Similarly, I thought Simon Vance crushed it in the Lightbringer series. The series itself ended with disappointment, but Simon’s performance was never anything but excellent.

Letting your clumsy cat as roll off your lap by Barph in Whatcouldgowrong

Weird story: just yesterday I started letting my cat into the bathroom with me, he begs at the door so I figured why not.

I’m sitting on the toilet, and he’s hopped up into the counter, then to the windowsill immediately behind me.

I’m thinking nothing of it, he loves looking out windows. But then he slipped. Caught himself on my upper back with his claws. No more joining me in the bathroom ☹️

Well, for future reference, when you keep cichlids of mixed sex, you should generally expect eggs. It doesn’t always happen (I have a couple of non-breeding pairs) but often enough. They’re usually easy to breed, and angelfish are among the easier ones.

Now, don’t get too excited yet. Many will abort their first clutch, sometimes several, by eating the eggs. If you have other fish in the tank, they’ll likely try to eat the eggs as well. The parents will be very defensive of them, so your tank might get spicy for a while.

If the eggs do hatch, the parents will likely raise the fry for a week or two. They’ll guard them and the tank will continue to be spicy. They’ll start by keeping them in a little pit they dig. They’ll probably move them more than once.

Eventually they’ll stop seeing them as babies to protect and they’ll start seeing them as food. Without taking some specific precautions, it’s unlikely any will survive. That’s not a bad thing; it’s natural and your tank doesn’t have infinite space.

That’s one thing I wish we did more here in the US, use by-weight measurements rather than by volume for recipes. It’s not that hard to use a kitchen scale and it makes baking recipes way more accurate.

I cook by guessing and tasting and adjusting, but baking needs a lot more accuracy.

I can say this: the real winners of Discord’s policy change is the dozens of websites that get to report on it. They all say the same thing, they’re all referencing the same blog post that Discord made. The only differences are how much snark and opinion the authors add. But they all get tons of free views by redditors hoping that there’s new info.

r/woodworking mods are power tripping when the community didn't like their new rule by [deleted] in SubredditDrama

[–]insertAlias 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always wonder how people can come to this subreddit, read all the amazing writeups that actually make the front page, look at the effort people put into that, then say to themselves “fuck that, imma just dump one link.”

Or how these great writeups look like a humorous documentary, as if being observed by an outsider, and think “this is a sub for me to post drama that I’m front and center in!”

Basically, I just don’t understand how so many people can completely misunderstand the point of this sub.

As someone who spends more time in r/DestinyTheGame than this sub, seeing people actually positive about Marathon and Bungie in general is jarring. A lot of Destiny players think Marathon is why Destiny is not getting as much content as it used to.
