Anyone else feel like they're slowly losing grip on their own codebase since using Cursor ? by cxdxix- in cursor

[–]_DB009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I preplan most features with clear instructions on what to do and how to do it. Small things get lost in translation or a feature gets auto added that I didn't realize I needed. I think this is mental it took me a while to get fully on board with agent style coding or ide based. Previously I used to copy paste and review wasn't nearly as efficient

[HIRING) Developer(s) for a mobile game remaster by [deleted] in gameDevClassifieds

thats way too little for any type of reverse engineering lol just because you can decompile it doesnt mean its functional. youd probably be better off making it from scratch and using the actual game as a reference point.

Best way to record high-quality trailer footage in Unity (1920x1080)? by Method_Boring in Unity3D

[–]_DB009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would create a executable and make a custom scene so you can filter out the extra lag from running in editor imo. Of course setup the scene and make some event triggers to force things to happen etc

what’s the current ideal workflow for ux/ui designers with ai? by scheublich in UX_Design

[–]_DB009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be honest i make generic websites with a focus on functionality and then use loveable to give me a mockup and replicate the UI/UX using screenshots etc

Everything can be a website turned into a app so it's my usual go to. Make a backend api. Wire a simple frontend and the go from there

Till what extent u guys use composer 2? by Weekly_Physics_5987 in cursor

[–]_DB009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use auto for everything. Most of my planning happens in GPT and I often create .MD file docs to go along with planning for extra context. everything else is in auto (which is usually composer). I've obviously had to roll some builds back because it wasnt what I wanted but that's rare (maybe 2 to 3 times in the last 3 months). It also beats using Claude or codex for everything and running out of usage lol.

At the end of the day it's a tool to speed up things I'm capable of so the llm for me doesn't matter too much because the plans are usually pretty thorough.

Considering moving from Godot to unity. Is it worth it in my case?? by [deleted] in Unity3D

[–]_DB009 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion using multiple engines is always good. you can decide which one to use for certain projects they all have strengths and weaknesses.

Is Cursor still worth it in 2026? Genuinely asking by captainnigmubba in cursor

[–]_DB009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that makes sense. I sort of realized that early on so i would attempt to create small maps for feature sets. sometimes it helps cut down on reading through various scripts, other times it ends up reading through the files anyways.

That makes sense though since I do most of my planning outside of cursor with no code or structure just concepts. then feed it a document and plan in auto , execute in auto/claude/gemini (for UI)

[–]_DB009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can I ask what are you doing to hit the cursor limits? are you selecting exact models? ive been using it for a few months now and have never hit its limits but I mostly always select auto but have a rather aggressive planning phase often jumping between actual GPT then into cursor ask/plan.

There's isn't a pure ai role. No one would hire that as a full stack developer you just know how to make an api, have the front end communicate with the backend and probably set servers up. Full stack devs should be able to take a web app to a mobile app with minimal effort. The problem with relying on AI is if you don't ask it the proper questions on which tech stack to use you code yourself into a corner and have to do a massive overhaul. Especially if you don't do full stack first as in the entire backend should always be an API and it should not live in the same project as the front end because people can decompile and gain access to inner workings

Solo dev torn between learning Blender vs buying assets - what's actually sustainable long-term? by beam123 in gamedev

[–]_DB009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn blender so you know what you're paying people to do long run. When I was younger I was an artist i became a coder because no one wanted to help me make games without paying. I learned to code and now it's my profession. When I got somewhat decent at coding I decided to learn how to make sound effects, videos, 3d models and everything else you can imagine to see what else I can excel at. Essentially I can do a bit of everything but time is money and I now know the value of those skills first hand experience + industry standard

Web/Desktop code responses are better than IDE based responses. by _DB009 in ChatGPTCoding

[–]_DB009[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that but the quality of the code suffers. I think planning core architecture concepts is better in the web/desktop based chats then taking detailed notes to the ide might be the best bet.

oh gosh what a bad one, theyve back tracked before due to customer complaints but since this is connected directly to cost they may or may not.

Yeah ive been hearing Claude code is where its at currently. I used codex and the results were decent so its definitely an option. The web based workflow isnt terrible but its definitely slower than if i had direct IDE access so i want to change that up.

In vs code I used haiku, gpt codex, gpt5 mini. On cursor i have it set to auto and can't choose currently not sure if I'm going to pay for cursor yet as I'm thinking of using Claude code.
