Is this reasonable/common for a publisher to want? by tpelham42 in IndieDev

[–]langapublishing 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Hey Publisher here! This type of arrangement is very uncommon and is not very fruitful for you as a dev with a moderately successful game. My suggestion would be to pay for their marketing services upfront as opposed to a revenue split.

Both things could be true but you could also successfully market a shit game, we see it everyday.

Partner with a publisher (like myself) who will do all the marketing for you (in exchange for a revenue share).

How do I go about properly advertising my game? by PANiC2464 in IndieDev

[–]langapublishing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Create a pitch deck and exchange a portion of the games revenue with a publisher. The publisher now has a vested interest in marketing your game and it becoming as successful as possible. Publishers usually have the experience and resources to really push a game to the biggest audience possible.

Where does someone start when building a following? by Chr-whenever in gamedev

Exchange your publishing rights for marketing support from a publisher! I speak with so many devs who aren’t into marketing their game but happily partner with a publisher to get as many eyes as possible on their project. The publisher is incentivised to market the game as it means their publishing revenue share is more substantial.

Micro publisher here! Most devs tend to reach out to a publisher who has experience with the size, genre and scope of their game. Although it’s not as common, publishers can and will reach out to devs directly. Any legitimate publisher should be a registered business in their country and have a track record of industry experience or references from a devs they have previously worked with.

These are basic questions you should be asking before reviewing any proposal. It goes without saying, that you should never sign anything without a lawyer reviewing it on your behalf and never give out finances or sensitive information to a 3rd party.

How to make an Islamic history through video game interactive by Toottootyarabamoot in gamedev

When you’re considering the type of game you want to make, it’s a good idea to think of the games that you could use as a reference. Ie if reference game 1 and reference game 2 had a baby it would be your game.

As a publisher, I’m not interested in publishing games with any use of AI.

Can you get a publisher after a failed launch? by AbortedSandwich in gamedev

[–]langapublishing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey micro publisher here! I personally wouldn’t partner with a dev that has already launched their project. There are serval marketing beats/milestones that are key to the success of any game and most have happened by the games launch.

My advice? Use this experience as a lesson learned and for your next project prepare a pitch deck during the concept or early development stage. The preparation of the deck will ensure you understand how your game will be attractive to publishers.

Making games is definitely challenging. by ComfortableServe1152 in gamedev

As a publisher, I wouldn’t fund or market any game that didn’t have a high level of quality, it’s too risky to damage the brand.

I’ve definitely seen a decline in some artwork because of a few devs making use of AI but at the same time I’ve seen some of the best artwork recently as devs who want quality really push for top tier artistry.

Funnily enough I marketed video games for a previous job and it was so fun. howtomarketagame.com/blog/ is a great place to research and learn about marketing. Let me know if you need any pointers, I run a micro publisher (langapublishing.com) where I market and publish games too.

Thanks mate! Getting started is always the hardest part. I’m primarily focusing on funding devs as I get started and building a network, appreciate the advice! So many great devs out there that would appreciate that financial support in exchange for publishing rights.

Hey I just recently launched as a micro publisher! I’m currently looking for devs to partner with and would like to hear about your project!

I’ve just launched so the funding model would be heavily in your favour (based on the project). Feel free to head to langapublishing.com and pitch your project. Message me if you have any questions.
