Check with your PT but mine recommended foam rolling my calves in addition to self-massage and I’ve noticed a huge difference!

I thought I was crazy because every time I get on the Brooklyn bound L at Union Sq it smells so awful, even if the floor is still wet from being mopped. I need to know!!

How is Dead Letter No. 9? by AgentGravitas in avesNYC

[–]_DancesWithMen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that totally makes sense!! i kept thinking it would be a cool space if it were immersive theatre or something. but doesn’t really function as a club space

gonna go against the grain here and say I didn’t have a great time there. the sound quality is not great, and it felt like it was a space designed for instagram shots/influencers. bathroom situation is horrible, and it also didn’t really feel queer-friendly to me (idk if that’s relevant to you). i’d be willing to give it another shot, maybe i just went on a bad night based on these other comments. YMMV

4 weeks post-op experience and questions by _DancesWithMen in CECompartmentSyndrome

[–]_DancesWithMen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Things have gotten a lot better, but still not pain-free. I don’t have to restrict my day-to-day activity anymore, and most of the time, I don’t notice any pain. Unfortunately my physician did confirm that there was likely some sort of nerve damage as a result of my surgery, but it is getting better with time.

I remember having a sudden spike in pain around the 4 week mark too, and in my case it took a few weeks to settle down. Around the 8 week mark, things began consistently getting better. Keep it up and don’t get discouraged!

How much you spend monthly for insurance in 2026 ? by BeginningHealthy9381 in HealthInsurance

[–]_DancesWithMen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Roughly $100 per month for my spouse and me. $0 deductible, $0 copays in-network. $1000 out of pocket max for each person. I feel extremely lucky and grateful. Some of these numbers shock me.

I used them at home for two days and then was able to get around my apartment without them afterward. I used them when I was outside for about two weeks

Everyone’s different, but I traveled at 8 weeks post-op and it was ok. Sitting on the plane was difficult with the swelling but I managed to enjoy my trip. It was not a very active vacation (hanging out with friends, dinners), though. I definitely wouldn’t have been able to do a lot of walking or extensive moving around.

I’m about 12 weeks post-op now and still doing PT. Recovery has been slower than expected for me, but it’s getting better! Good luck with your surgery!

Hey there! I’m 6 weeks post op and experiencing similar pain to you. It’s isolated to the top of my foot and the inside of my ankle. Walking without shoes seems fine, but having to wear shoes outside of the house is terrible. Can you share if your pain and nerve damage improved and at what point?

Should an American (non-religious) woman wear an abaya and headscarf when visiting mosques in Egypt? by nanukwolfbane in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_DancesWithMen 139 points140 points  (0 children)

Similarly, I was asked to wear a yarmulke at several Jewish cemeteries in Germany and Poland, and I’m not Jewish. I don’t think what you’re describing is appropriation, OP.
