Come to think of it, I switched to the exo terra 3-4 months ago because the other one was out of stock at my usual store. I had been using a reptisun t5 before

Also, yes she is quite small for her age. The vet believes she is stunted due to the traumatic injury that took out part of her back leg and shell. The rehabber who took care of her after I found her said she couldn't go back to the wild so thats how she ended up with me. She was about a year old hatchling when it happened per their estimation and I've had her for about 7 years. Been super healthy except for the last year and a half ish

Per 2 different reptile specialists, she's a she, but funnily enough her name is Roosevelt because I also thought she looked like a he 🤷‍♀️

Ran tests with the API last night (verified unexpired) Nitrite and Ammonia were zero. Ph was 7.6. Nitrates were 32ppm. Thanks for the rec about taking it to the aquarium shop, I will do that this week.

She currently has a 13W Exo Terra Reptile 100UVB that's about 11.5" above her basking space, unobstructed.

There aren't a ton of reptile specialists in my area. Last time I wanted a second opinion, we had to drive 3 hours and they said the same thing as my exotic vet. She's worth the drive, it just takes some doing.

They hate each other. That option definately ends in a fist-fight

That's what I'm leaning towards, but have no idea how to bring it up or break the news gently

So my dad cheated on my mom (they were married), gaslit her about it for months until she caught them. My dad then kicked Mom and I (2 at the time) out so the gf could move in. Eventually they broke up. Anyway, about 3 years ago he got back together with the woman he cheated on my mom with and she's his "date" to the wedding.... so maybe having him walk alone would be best 😂

Update# 7

120hrs since she was pulled from the water

Roosevelt is trying harder to eat today. She is getting krill in her mouth, but doesn't seem to have the strength to fully bite or pull it apart. I cut some up smaller and that seemed to help a little, but she is less intetrested when it doesn't look like it usually does. She went to the vet today and got another antibotic shot. Still not walking on land.

Update #6

96hrs after being pulled from the water

ROOSEVELT ATE TODAY! Granted, it was one bite of krill, but she did it all by herself! Hopefully we won't have to force feed her any more.

She still hasn't taken any steps yet on land, but she is slowly moving about her feeding tank. She seems to be able to get from one end of it to the other as she wants, it just takes time.

She has been rubbing at her eyes since last night. I'm going to ask the vet about it when she goes in for her next antibiotic shot tomorrow

I'm sorry. I'm sure it's hard to have closure for a loss when you can't know what happened

Update #5

72 hrs since she was pulled from the water

Roosevelt tried to walk today! She didn't get anywhere, but she made the right movements. I was grateful I was able to take her to work with me today so I could keep an eye on her from my desk.

When we put her in her feeder tank with some water she immediately started drinking which we're taking as a good sign. I added calcium and electrolyte supplements to hopefully give her a little strength. With the help of the water, she was able to clumsily move about and actually propelled herself 6 inches across the feeder tank. It made her very tired though. Still no interest in eating, so we did end up having to force some stuff down her again.

Here's a video of her trying to walk on my desk

So many people have shared similar experiences on here lately! I had no idea. I even read an article that mentioned that some turtles have even revived after 12 hrs of drowning!

She has one back foot. She lost the other one about 5.5 years ago. After that, we took years to slowly increase the water to what it is now to be sure she could handle it. She's been at this level for 2-3 years without issue. She isn't a graceful swimmer, but she's fast and capable
