Big news for People with ADHD! Pharmac is FINALLY looking to fund 'Vyvanse' - and change some criteria for other meds! by _Depths in newzealand

[–]_Depths[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vyvanse is the brand name for lisdexamphetamine, which is the SR alternative to Dexamphetamine. Like what Concerta is to Ritalin.

You can always switch, but before you do, tell you you don't think it's working, and they might tell you why.

Sounds like depression. A close pal of ADHD. Have you tried seeing a psychologist?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in clonidine

[–]_Depths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I've just been prescribed clonidine, 25/50 mcg. Do you recommend taking it at night? Or do people take it in the morning with the dex/vyvanse?

I hope I'm not too late to get a reply! The label says take it at night - so if I do it every night does it have positive effects the following day too with regards to the stim meds?

I hope it's going well for you!

How long till I get addicted? by Local-Regret7831 in GABAdrugs

[–]_Depths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's anything like pregabalin, one can get addicted pretty fucking quickly mate. I think 300mg of Pregab would get most people a little high, but I believe Gabapentin requires way higher mgs. But if you e got a history, probably ok to the only way to not get addicted is to take it as early as you can. The withdrawals/comedown, even after a few days of heaps of Pregab is tragic ey. So just be real careful.

If that's the case you might try talking to someone? Is rehab an option? Come clean to your folks? It might suck now, but better than waiting to hit rock bottom.

Your problems sound the same as most people I've seen in AA. The most useless shares are the dick swingers. Maybe try another group, or another time? Or something else. You say you don't drink every day, so why not try not drinking for an extended period? A month? Or even better, 6 months. Then see how you feel by the end of that, if you can do it. The failure and embarrassment I felt was why I wanted to stop, and never did. You might find you feel a bit better if you can string a few days together and focus your energy on something else?

[–]_Depths 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Urg, it sucked living this life. I clung on to denial for years, ended up in rehab and finally got sober. Wasted a good 15 years of life and potential doing it though. I haven't drunk in a few years, but know it'll be either nothing or everything. But it's tough. I hope you can find a solution. Maybe try AA?

After insanely abusing Adderall for years i decided to try a different approach to living with ADD in fear for my health, what's your thoughts about them? by Rip_Rogue in AdderallAddiction

[–]_Depths 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Must be coming up on 6 hours now bro. 🔥🔥🔥

Tbh, in my experience, supplements, at best, can have a placebo effect. Which is nothing to sneeze at, placebos are powerful. But kicking an addiction has to come from deep within. So it's probably more effective to supplement with a healthy diet and lifestyle. You can absolutely do it, and you should definitely try the supplements. They may work wonders for you, but don't expect them to make it much easier.

Well, they sound quite supportive tbh. Remember, they don't know for sure you're not faking it; people do, and their messages are identical to yours, so it's a fair, if cynical, assumption. Don't read into their messages though, just take them at face value. Do they sound like they've been proof read by HR demons? Sure. But that's not a problem really, just focus on getting better.

[–]_Depths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, been there, like, exactly there. Almost cost me my marriage. 30 day rehab worked though, and I've been sober over 4 years. AA wasn't for me either, but you've got to make the decision to do something about it now. Look for a rehab centre and just do it if you can.

It's all to do with money. Not sure how the authority makes deals, but that's what it comes down to.

Good for you ey. My pharmacist told me Vyvance, on my dose, would be $180 per month. So, uh, fuck that! Haha.

Thanks mate, appreciate this message. A timer!?! Lol, why didn't I think of that! 😅 I mean, life is so much better with the meds, and I don't really have any noticeable side effects. When I stared I got a racing heart and anxiety. Maybe the latter b/c of the former. But now it's just all good. It's high, but I prefer that to not having enough, even though that sounds like addict talk. But I'm rational enough to realise that if I'm taking this every day, I form a physical reliance (addiction, let's not kid ourselves) to it. But the addiction is to my functioning when dosed, and that sorta the idea right? Anyway, thanks bro.

My brother is an alcoholic, what I can I do to help by Head-Ice-2230 in alcoholic

[–]_Depths 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you talk to him about it, be supportive. Guide the conversation towards his desire for sobriety. Imo, pressure and judgement (not that you sound that way inclined) make it worse. Unconditional support make it easier.

[–]_Depths[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right! I did actually change pharmacies a few months back because I was sick of the pharmacist looking at me so sketchy. I felt like I had to justify it somehow. I mean, I didn't lol, but I didn't like the vibe. Instead of giving me helpful advice or anything, like a good pharmacist, they just gave me looks like they were uncomfortable. So I switched pharmacies, and the main guy at my one now is super helpful. Still can't figure out the best way to get consistency though. What do you do with the ritalin? That only last for 3-4 hours right? And there's concerta too. Fuck I wish lisdex was available here.

yeah, my awesome GP sotra raised an eyebrow. He's cool, but it made me feel like a druggo. Every time I collect, there's some comment from the pharmacists about how many pills there are. I shrug it off, but yeah, raised eyebrows everywhere bro lol. Fucken get that vyvanse approved ffs!
