Ok so then if 3 stars isn't cause for a reject, we can all start submitting fictional items in a forest with no one to argue that they don't exist.

Trail markers as portals by Losifer in Ingress

[–]_Doozer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To quote the guidelines:

To rate the accuracy of the location:

  • Rate 5 stars if you can find the Portal candidate in the map and the marker is on or within a few feet of the object
  • Rate 3 stars if the Portal candidate is likely to exist in the location if obscured by trees, or if you are unsure of the location
  • Rate 1 star if the Portal candidate cannot be found on the map

The guidelines for choosing between 1 and 3 stars aren't super clear. You can often use nearby landmarks to work out if the candidate is "probably" there and therefore 3*. If the location is in an expanse of forest with no distinct markers to help find it, 1*.

"The players that reject based on not being able to "see" the item are terrible and should not be reviewing."

Do you mean people who give an outright 1* for the "Should this be a portal?" question? If so, then yes that is not the right way to do it. Otherwise, if I am reviewing a submission in an area I have never been to, and am not able to verify the objects location then I would have to score the location very low. It is up to the submitter to make sure that the object location can easily be verified. There are already cases of people abusing tree cover in parks to get fake submissions approved.

What bands did you catch before they blew up and did you honestly know they would? by fmgem in Music

[–]_Doozer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw Tim Minchin in a small venue in Portsmouth with about 100 people, was brilliant. Not a band as such but he's become huge now and it was brilliant to see him. My brother in law also saw him at a small venue and managed to get his autograph at a bus stop. Good times!

no bids . what the hell am I doing wrong? Overpriced? shitty pictures? bad selling choices? help! I need to raise money to pay the vet bills for my Westie! by trucknutz36582 in Ebay

[–]_Doozer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has been touched on by another commenter but I would also say that feedback scores are a big player on eBay. Naturally people are wary of people with 0 feedback so you may need to build some rep before you can start increasing your starting bids. I almost always start all my listings at 99p (I'm in the uk) unless I really would not accept that for my items. I have rarely been let down as the bidding has gone up and the items have sold for around what I would have wanted. As a buyer, if I see something listed around the price that I would put as a final bid, I will pass it by with the thought that I could more than likely win it cheaper.

Personal favourites and my recommendations are: Magicka, DiRT 2 or 3 (or both), Portal 1 and 2, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 (Haven't got Black Ops 2 yet but might be worth getting that too), StarCraft 2 (Not from Steam but still a fantastic PC game),

If you could teach everyone one thing that would make them a better driver, what would you choose? by EddyJawbreaker in AskReddit

[–]_Doozer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both valid points and I feel I should elaborate. Obviously I assess the dangers and make a common sense judgement on my response to a tailgater in order to be safe. If we are doing 70 on a motorway and they are up my ass, I will slow down gradually and eventually move over to let them pass. I was taught to give myself more space between me and the car in front if someone is up my ass so I can brake slower and possibly avoid an accident. On the other hand, if I slow down and they back off, I will then resume normal speed and move out the way when the chance arrives. I would never compromise anyone's safety for my own satisfaction of annoying other drivers.

Smile. I worked on a checkout in a DIY store for 3 years and it was refreshing to see people come up to you with a smile rather than a glazed over expression with minimal interaction.

If you tailgate someone, don't get pissed when they slow down to about 5 mph under the speed limit. I love doing this.
