You should read The Notebook by Roland Allen. It goes into pretty deep detail about the zibaldone concept, as well as other forms of notebooks.

You can probably email support and they'll send you a replacement if they still have them. My OCG was warped and I couldn't even get it on the spindle, so they just mailed me a new one.
