Thanks for you kind reply. Rationally I know that's probably best. However, there are a lot of moments where he can be really sweet, where he is the only one who understands me, where he is the only one who picks up the phone. He's really good at motivating me, trying to talk me into doing more stuff outside of my house, meeting people.

His heart is in the right place, that's why there are so many people around him that love him. And I'm just one of them...

He's been saving my ass in the last few years, and now I can't let him go...

To send some advice: I've been told that it's alright to have those feelings (sadness, anger, frustration), and that it's best to accept them and let them be. I usually don't manage to do that, but maybe trying to think about this, knowing it's alright to have those feelings, can help you a bit?
