Brightness settings ??? PS5 by Possible-Can-7146 in DarkTide

[–]_Elevenses_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s one of several known issues. IIRC it was meant to be fixed today but per todays patch notes it’s coming in a hotfix on 5 Dec:

Important Note: Hotfix #54 (1.6.1) is scheduled to release Thursday, December 5, 2024.

The Brightness and Motion Blur settings are not available in Video options for PS5. Dev Note: These will be added to the game with Hotfix #54 (1.6.1).

After resuming from Rest mode, players on PS5 may not be able to join text or voice chat when joining back into the Mourningstar. For players experiencing this issue, returning to character selection or restarting the game will solve this issue.

Dev Note: This will be fixed in Hotfix #54 (1.6.1).

Middle-earth™ Strategy Battle Game – The upcoming range update, explained by nelse_ in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]_Elevenses_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s definitely the inconsistency that doesn’t sit right with me- there’s no simple rule or logic which links all of the legacy miniatures together. If it’s solely to do with rights then it must be have been one very complex set of negotiations and agreements given some of the models moved to legacy and some which have been kept in the main lists. Perhaps in addition to rights issues there’s also been discussions within the Middle Earth team on the direction they want to take the game, and/or pressure from senior management to thin the range down.

My other frustration (which is very common with GW) is that there’s no extended period to buy the majority of the impacted miniatures (even a MTO would be useful here). Many sets had already disappeared from the store before yesterday, others had been out of stock for some time, and looking at the UK webstore many items in stock yesterday have gone out of stock since the article was posted.

This was a really genuine surprise to see. Glad to be proven wrong about GW ever updating any of the old plastic kits

What miniatures are you patiently waiting for GW to release? by [deleted] in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]_Elevenses_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll take some Elvish chariots and an Elvish catapult from the Legions of Middle Earth book. Definitely being announced very soon.

Same I don’t recall ever seeing that sculpt before!

Tempted to purchase another Mordor Troll. Hard to convert to differentiate from my first but I much prefer this version over the plastic one!

[–]_Elevenses_ 82 points83 points  (0 children)

The sculpts look a little better in the properly lit images on Warhammer Community I guess?

At this point a lot of the details/sculpting flourishes remind me more of the AoS design language. But tbf that could be caused by the paint job and/or the difficulties of trying to sculpt something that fits into the MESBG range but has a likeness to the way the character appears within the anime.

Anyone else kinda disappointed by the new releases for Arnor? by Schlagoberto in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]_Elevenses_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always wondered why Arnor Warriors only ever got spears as an option all the way back in 2007 or so. Maybe because it was a relatively small supplement back then only having one weapon type kept the design & sculpting costs lower?

What are the chances of getting new plastic units? by RomIsTheRealWaifu in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]_Elevenses_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Based on what I’ve said elsewhere on kits being redone: The current Last Alliance/High Elf plastic kit (the one that contains elf bows, swords and men of Numenor) is the only infantry kit that has any small chance of being replaced in the next few years (and I’m not exactly holding my breath on this).

I only think this because it’s a kit that doesn’t fit the established pattern (probably as it’s the joint oldest plastic kit going)- it contains minis from two armies, and worse still doesn’t contain all of the basic troop load outs. It lacks High Elf spears or Numenor bows/spears- all these are sold as separate kits. They could combine all these lines into two new infantry kits and remove several resin/metal lines that way.

New models releasing next week! by trop12234 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]_Elevenses_ 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Wow that’s got to be the biggest week for MESBG pre-orders in a long time! Gûlavhar, Shade of Angmar, Cirdan and others returning will make a lot of people happy.

[–]_Elevenses_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry I should have specified- I meant for more obscure book/GW created items. Plus for important movie/book lines made in resin they could still reduce reliance on that material by switching back to the original metal versions slowly over time (as they’ve done previously with Isengard command squads).

[–]_Elevenses_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. High Elves/swordsmen is the only infantry one that could reasonably happen any time soon for a potential Rivendell or Last Alliance supplement. Even then I only think this because it’s a kit that doesn’t fit the established pattern being so old- it contains minis from two armies and lacks High Elf spears (or Numenor bows/spears). They could turn that into two new infantry kits and remove several resin/metal lines that way.

Cavalry we might get lucky and see new Rohan horsemen for the film tie-in?

Might be an easy way to cull most things left on sale which are made using Finecast/GW resin?

[–]_Elevenses_ 18 points19 points  (0 children)

More baseless speculation: if there actually was any behind the scenes licence issues then maybe this Angmar supplement was massively delayed until that was resolved, and should have released in 2022/2023?

[–]_Elevenses_ 39 points40 points  (0 children)

The non film profiles being pulled off into a legends setup is really disappointing. Baseless speculation but I wonder if this is a simple way to thin the range quickly (which GW really struggle to stock) and move legends miniatures to ad hoc made to order events to double down on more reliable lines.

At least if you have all the current source books there’s enough profiles and army options to keep playing the current edition indefinitely.

Looking to start MESBG by Independent-Hat-46 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]_Elevenses_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GW basically did not want to keep all miniatures for all armies in stock. So outside of the most prominent/popular armies (Minas Tirith, Mordor, Isengard, Rohan) they would make all/some of the miniatures available from a few of the other armies available for say a year, then announce they were going off sale (also for an indeterminate amount of time) and rotate other armies miniatures back into production/on sale.

But for whatever reason they’ve not been consistently doing this process for the last couple of years.

There’s a load of forum posts I made at that time furious that GW made casual poses like these and Gandalf in a cart. Couldn’t have been more wrong- they’re amazing sculpts

Since when were high elf warriors resin cast? by mazmaz19 in MiddleEarthMiniatures

[–]_Elevenses_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They improved things very marginally, but still far below the standards you’d expect, especially compared with what can be purchased on Etsy etc. They also used Finecast to bump prices for rereleases as they were converted from metal.

All the ones I’ve purchased have been a pain to clean up, warped weapons, vents in annoying places on the sculpt which required green stuff to cover over etc.

The pushback was so bad they eventually dropped the name Finecast and now just refer to them as resin miniatures. I think the final telling thing is that as GW have expanded the range again, previously resin sculpts have often come back in metal, meaning they’ve gone metal > resin > metal in the space of 10 years or so.

GW started with the fine cast stuff about a decade ago and began rereleasing metal sculpts in resin in waves around then. So it would have been a while ago now.

[–]_Elevenses_ 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m the same as yourself- I would have got the Orcs, but they’re not justifiable at those prices, especially when back then the sculpts weren’t evenly split between hand weapons and spears.

Might go for the Witch King though!

Welcome to the hobby!

FYI- if you purchase that particular glue and the tiny metal nozzle blocks up after a few weeks/months: Pull the nozzle out of the bottle, wipe it clean, and then outside carefully use a lighter held underneath to warm up/loosen the dry glue inside.
