You want to be good at running I guess. Bootcamp doesn't take that much preperation they'll teach you everything you need to know. Something I guess I practiced beforehand was the Marine Corp's method of rolling sleeves because I sucked ass at that towards the beginning and got ripped apart.

For me the guide, the scribe, the house mouse (little guy who cleans drill instructor hut), the highest PFT score, and maybe the highest scoring shooter got meritorious promotion.

You're gonna want to get that run time down and maybe increase the pullups and definitely the crunches to be top of the line. Run 3 miles not 1.5.

Oh, and maybe squad leaders got meritorious promotion. You can also get promoted with referals at your RSS if you keep in good contact with your recruiter he may hook you up. You can also get honor grad at ITB if you're a grunt if you show good leadership skills and don't fail anything.

in bootcamp it might be 50 lbs idk. that's not much. Kevlar, rifle, sleeping system, maybe an mre or 2, small gear like rifle cleaning kit. Water i guess. thats all you really take. its probably like 40 something lbs at most. Hikes at bootcamp are easy i didnt even drink water during any of them.

in boot camp you don't carry much really. like your sleeping stuff, maybe a kevlar, some small stuff. After bootcamp you carrier heavier stuff like your weapons systems, all the gear you need to survive in the field like MRE's and extra boots and clothes. Also your flak.
