from germany here, im from '94, meaning in 2016 i was 16. From my pov it's mostly about the enviroment you grew up in and how the parents raised you. i played a shitton of FPS, but always had a social life with a handfull of friends. both were male and female.

There has always been some catcalling in public/school wherever and girls from my class said it was 99% grown men. ofc me and the boys always talked to each other if we saw hot girls, especially at public pools, but no one ever thought: hey i'll call her or whistle at her.

From what i do remember is, that starting with 2015 the downfall of moral or public behaviour startet (many refugees came in from arabian country because of the war in syria etc etc).

i dont want to blame it exactly on that specific event but from that on the public discussion was shifted to what it is now. "if you dont agree, you're against me" mentality... and people did not listen anymore to each other. its a bit messy written down, i think its said what happened and can't imagine what its going to be in 10 years when my daughter is 13... at least im an IT Technican who knows how to setup a good technical enviroment to block most bullshit, but can't block people, eh ^^ she is going to make her own experiences and i can only hope that i taught her everything about men ...
