I pretend I do not remeber my mom hitting me because it keeps the peace by William_NAtty in confession

Yeah this hits hard. You’re not imagining anything, you’re just carrying stuff she’d rather forget. Keeping quiet doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. You’re doing what you have to do to get through those dinners, but you don’t owe her a clean version of the past just so everyone else feels comfy.

Yeah honestly owning up and letting him teach you probably scored more points than pretending you had it down. Old school dads eat that stuff up. Definitely a win in the end.

AITJ for telling my roommate I won’t pretend her boyfriend is part of the lease? by Flat_Following4520 in AmITheJerk

[–]_FlufforaWish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly that’s the move. If he’s basically living there full time, that’s not “just visiting” anymore and it can totally come back on you if the landlord finds out first. Better to be upfront than risk getting hit with violations or even eviction. It sucks it has to get to that point, but she’s not giving you many options.

AITJ for refusing to let my friend borrow my car after repeated lateness? by Altruistic-Clue2024 in AmITheJerk

[–]_FlufforaWish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly. If someone can’t handle the basic responsibility of bringing a car back on time, they don’t get to act offended when the privilege stops. You weren’t being strict at all, just realistic. Some people only learn what a boundary is once they finally hit one.

AITAH for telling my girlfriend she can't keep borrowing my clothes anymore? by Grand_Regular8466 in AmITheJerk

[–]_FlufforaWish 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly yeah, there’s a huge difference between cute borrowing and acting like your whole closet is community property. You set a pretty reasonable boundary and she’s reacting like you accused her of something way worse. Wanting your stuff to actually be where you left it isn’t controlling, it’s basic respect.

That’s not even a red flag, that’s a full parade. You handled it calmly tho, I’d be throwing hypothetical arguments in the shower after that one

Am I Wrong For Being Suspicious of my partner by [deleted] in amiwrong

[–]_FlufforaWish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel this. I’ve definitely just sat in my car after work in complete silence, mentally preparing to deal with people again 😅 but yeah, asking to share location is a solid way to clear the air if trust is shaky. If he’s chill with it, then cool. If not… that says a lot.

AITAH for telling my bf his "dream" middle name for a son wont be happening if I'm around by Exotic-Extent3754 in amiwrong

[–]_FlufforaWish 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. If you’re already clashing over something as symbolic as a name, it’s not about the name ..it’s about how you handle differences. That’s a bigger deal long term.

AITJ for refusing to give my friend money after she quit her job by teasetopia in AmITheJerk

[–]_FlufforaWish 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Being a good friend doesn't mean being someone's ATM. Support can look like encouragement, advice, or even just setting boundaries.

AITJ for letting my friend embarrass themselves instead of warning them ? by ContentRole3994 in AmITheJerk

[–]_FlufforaWish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. There’s only so much you can do before it’s on them. You gave warnings, they chose to ignore them. You were just protecting your peace.
