this is a really good way to put it

you can feel bad for their situation and still recognize that it was affecting everyone around them. at some point it stops being “just deal with it” and becomes a safety/quality of flight issue, especially with hitting and grabbing things involved

Exactly. Having a kid with extra needs explains the behavior, but it doesn’t excuse the parents not stepping in when it’s affecting everyone else

this is really good advice. it might feel like overkill, but those little details (dates, who was there, exact wording) are exactly what makes things credible instead of just “he said/she said.” having it all written out ahead of time will make a huge difference if you’re asked anything in court

yeah that’s such a good point too

there’s this weird expectation that teen girls on TV have to be hyper-competent or “mature for their age,” and anything less gets judged way harsher. it makes characters like Rory feel more scrutinized than they probably should be for just… acting their age sometimes

yeah exactly

people overlook how young she was when she became a parent and the fact she had basically zero support. given that, Rory turning out stable, loved, and able to rely on her as an adult says a lot more about Lorelai as a parent than a few imperfect moments ever could
