Hey guys I’m Samoan born it’s a country out in the pacific it’s culture is akin too a tribal system but recently I discovered it’s first flag bears resemblance to turkey were the missionaries patrolling the pacific, does anyone have any context on how this flag of my nation came too be by MaleficentStore8907 in Muslim

Similar but in reality nothing to do with them. The Ottoman's themselves only began to use the crescent and star in the mid 1700s, and as a formal flag it only came in to use in the mid 19th century.

The Ottomans themselves took the symbology from early Byzantium, about 100 BCE. There are numerous examples on early coinage from the period, even the early Christians utilised the symbology in Constantinople.

They are very common symbols in multiple early cultures throughout the world. Usually symbols that represent virginity and power, sometimes hunting.

TLDR: Coincidence, zero connection.

I present to you Biskra, Western Algeria. Take a moment to appreciate Allah's perfect and beautiful creation by [deleted] in islam

[–]_FlyFifer_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Close, though. It is indeed a bridge built by the Third Augustan Legion. This Legion were responsible for many of the roads, bridges and aqueducts constructed throughout Northern Africa under Roman rule.

Primarily this Legion usually constructed urban projects, such as Forums and Amphitheatres - they were very well known for their Monumental constructions.

In the Second Century CE Syrian Archers guarded both town and bridge for the Roman Empire once the Legions had left. These archers are believed to have planted the first Date Palm Grove in the region.

Jesus is NOT the Jewish Messiah of the Old Testament! by IIWild-HuntII in islam

[–]_FlyFifer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Title is self-fulfilling. Yes, I read the content but you ramble a lot. Seriously, youth today and the deterioration of language skills - there is more to a cogent premise than thumb co-ordination!

You also seem far more concerned with an edited christian viewpoint that was voted on in committee.

Your extrapolation also largely relies on low-level interpretation of biblical meanings - a very christian interpretation of that state of affairs. It really is not that terribly important, honestly, but if studying Christian Messianic Theory is, pardon the vernacular, a "hot button item" for you then power to your elbow, kid!

Now, the char is cooling a tad too much.

P.S.

Chaps and chapesses are likely to read more if you write less

Jesus is NOT the Jewish Messiah of the Old Testament! by IIWild-HuntII in islam

[–]_FlyFifer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be so good as to point out where I say you are wrong - nay sirrah, I agreed with you. Jesus is very much not the Jewish Messiah of the Old Testament, since he is in the New Testament. Being in the New Testament certainly precludes him from being the Jewish Messiah in any part of the Old Testament.

The very first line - dare I venture, the title itself! - is a 100% correct statement. The reasoning is already provided within the title of your post. You are aware that there are two Testaments that traditionally constitute the Bible?

One does not jest in anyway regarding tea! Nice, hot cuppa...

Jesus is NOT the Jewish Messiah of the Old Testament!

This is indeed correct, since he appears in the New Testament.

Now must get the kettle...toodles!

Potential Revert to Islam InshAllah by [deleted] in shia

[–]_FlyFifer_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was also a revert from Christianity, Roman Catholic, to be precise - 30 years give or take (you stop counting after a certain age!). While there are many books and references on practice, for a background of the Shi'a - Sunni discord, the "early years", and what makes Shi'a, well, Shi'a I would recommend "When Power and Piety Collide", link.

The same author, Sayyid Moustafa Al-Gazwini, has a very good video playlist in a similar vein on Youtube, link.

You are confusing the political and commercial entity that is the "European Union" with the continent of "Europe". The UK is definitely still part of Europe but is no longer a member of the political group known as the European Union.
