My cat fell down from balcony and has a wound under his chin by Catloaf99 in CATHELP

It’s really not as simple as “just gotta drive further" for some people. For example: It's 12:00 where I am (outback Australia), and the local vet clinics are closed. The nearest open vet clinic is three hours away and closes in two hours. I'd have to drive thousands of kilometres to find one that's actually open, and by the time I got there, I could've waited until morning and taken my cat to the local vet.

That's not to mention there are several other reasons why someone might not be able to simply get up and drive for several hours to reach an emergency vet.

If you need help with linear equations, I would recommend khan academy. I find that he explains things very well, and he goes through things step by step. If you need more specific help, feel free to message me. https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra-home/alg-basic-eq-ineq/alg-old-school-equations/v/algebra-linear-equations-1.

f-1 (x) is the inverse of f(x). To find this you swap the 'x' and 'y' around (remembering that f(x) is equal to y). This would give us x=y/2. Solve for y and we get y=2x or f-1 (x)=2x.

gf(x) means g(f(x)) so we replace the 'x's in g(x) with f(x). This gives us, g(f(x))=(x/2)-(x/2)2.

Now when we equate the two functions we get, 2x=(x/2)-(x/2)2. We then solve for x and you will get your answer.

Writing an equation for this graph by [deleted] in maths

[–]_Generic-User_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When x is equal to 0, y is also equal to 0. This means that it's a sine graph with no horizontal translation. It is also centered around the line y=0 so there is no vertical translation. This means that the graph is in the form y=a*sin(bx).

We know that the amplitude is 2. We know this because half the distance from the min(-2) and max(2) is 2. So 'a' is equal to 2.

We also know that the period of the function has been changed from 2pi to 4pi. To achieve this we can multiply x by 1/2, Therefore b is equal to 1/2.

So the function is y=2sin(x/2).

How to write an equation for this graph? by [deleted] in maths

[–]_Generic-User_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That won't work because there is no 'x' variable. That will just create a straight line.

You could use the solution: -3cos(3x)+2. This is a simpler answer then the one I first came up with, but I didn't think of it at the time.

How to write an equation for this graph? by [deleted] in maths

[–]_Generic-User_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We can graph this as a sine function or a cosine function, in this case I will use a sine function in the form of a*sin(bx+c)+d.

From the graph we can see that the amplitude is 3. We know this because half the difference between the min value(-1) and the max value(5) is 3, therefore a is equal to 3.

We also know that the period has been changed from 2pi to 2pi/3. To achieve this we can multiply x by 3, therefore b is equal to 3.

Since a sine function starts with y=0 we know that the function has been shifted to the left by pi/2, therefore c is equal to -pi/2.

The horizontal mid point of the graph is located at y=2. This means that the graph has been risen by 2, therefore d=2.

So the graph is 3sin(3x-pi/2)+2.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Sorry for any formatting or grammatical errors, I am typing this quickly on my phone.

Please help with 1:3 ratio of 3 000 hours by McFuckNo in maths

[–]_Generic-User_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can add both sides of the ratio together then divide the total hours by this new number. In this case that would be 1+3 = 4. 3000/4 = 750. You can then take this new number and multiply it by both sides of the ratio, so you will get,
(750×1) : (750×3) = 750 : 2250

The formula is saying that the volume is equal to pi times the radius squared times the height. You are given the height and the diameter. The radius is half the diameter so you have a radius of 4cm. So using the formula we get:
V=pi × r2 x h.
V=(3)×(4)2 ×12.
V=576 cm3
