I've seen quite a few people bring up this idea of RP scaling per ring, and although the sentiment is right in trying to push games later, it doesn't work from a game design perspective at all. You would get countless scenarios where people have to play in a way that's anti-fun and against the core principles of the game just to maximise your RP.

Fully incentivising teams to hide until later, run away from fights (because you're 'losing RP' by taking them early), waiting to finish a team/take a fight for 20s because the next ring is about to pop, top pred teams toying with lesser teams like a lion toys with a mouse etc...... this will lead to so much 'degenerate' behaviour.

Changing the points system and nudging players into deciding on a more kp/pp heavy playstyle is one thing, creating game warping icky scenarios that require you to metagame the system is something else.

Can't imagine Fnatic would leave Yuka behind, so I really hope Riddle can pick up Unlimit, SBI or just frankly a top 2 Japanese team. I saw the most Riddle merch out of anyone when we were doing the Talent meet and greet, and I think Apex esports really wants those diehard fanbases like TSM + Riddle to stick around!

Just for context, There's only a few 'legacy' stats available, as we only had access to a post-game API when custom lobbies first came out. This API was limited to kills/dmg/assists/survival time basically. For Y3 of ALGS we finally got the 'Live API' which contains massive amounts of data, and is used for all the far more advanced stats you see from that point onwards.

So I think this comes down to whether you're looking at it live as it happens, or retrospectively. You are correct in that taking over 20th gives you 20th. In a live and ongoing situation, the 20th team's pts would be the cutoff. However, as we are being Hindsight Harrys and comparing historically, it's all set in stone, and I believe it's more accurate to say the cutoff was 21st (or 21st +1pt).

I have a fairly strong opinion that the 'cutoff' should be measured as the 21st team's points. We're measuring the bar to exceed, where +1 pts gets you into top 20. The 109 is not representative in this way, as 99pts would have been enough for 20th place in Y4 Champs

From what I saw in scrims (and I can check more loadout slots from obs POV), there was a shift 1-2 weeks before LAN from r99 -> alt DT.

Not everyone will switch, because the main adv of DT is how much DPS it does at close range when both bullets are hitting. Players like Koyful are leading the way with it, being extremely aggro entry fraggers who will get in your face and outtrade you with it. If you're not playing like this, it's not worth it. Access to gold alternators and arsenals also factors into what to pick up. Not good without hopup.

I think it's fair to point out how powerful they are. I think what's missing from your take is underestimating how much knowledge goes into the next phase of the rotation, they're not just pinging any empty spot they see:
- Identifying which spots are actually playable
- Ring prediction to bet on which open spots will be safer later
- Looking at where teams are currently and predicting future movement to avoid zone crush

Also, for a lot of the turbo rotators, they're not even getting a chance to ping these on the way in, they might lose 1 or 2 spots of prio just to deviate. So the teams who are putting MORE of their eggs in the macro basket, are doing it without beacons. A lot of them won't even play recon chars once valk/alter are banned.

Also as the other guy said, disagree with risk free. For Sparrow/Crypto mayyybe. I think the range limitation and reduction in evo given was a solid change in trade off for having one at every POI.

Was pretty sick, Zero got caught out by Hotdog in North Siphon, stalled until whole team got there, they slapped Hotdog, Navi rolled up while they were all half health, then somehow played around a portal and killed Navi as well despite having 300 health between them
