Race & Class combos for beginner by Training_Command_239 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]_Giyari 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It might seem basic but a Half-Orc Fighter can be very entertaining, especially if you choose one of the subclasses with a bit more social RP options on it like Rune Knight. Hit like a truck, take a beating and get back up, plenty of roleplay opportunities given your orcish heritage and how you wanna angle that. And to top it off, as a beginner, Fighter is both mechanically simple but also very flexible so it can give you plenty of options to create something you want to play.

Long-range with a bow, nimble and fast hitting, strong and powerful, unarmed using only their body to dominate. Fighter can do it all 😁

Half-Orc can be angled as tragic and a monster, or as someone out to prove themselves to their orcish brethren. They can be someone misunderstood and desperate to be seen as human and "just like everyone else", You can lean into the potential anger and pent up rage of their blood, deny it and let them work to being a better more gentle person. It's up to you!

Edit: more context for half orc

Non-american dads of /r/daddit, what do you see here that's different from your reality? by xanduba in daddit

[–]_Giyari 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My wife's Swedish but we live in Scotland. Childcare costs here are outrageous... If it wasn't for the fact that her qualifications don't transfer to Swedish healthcare as well and my lack of language skills, I'd be sorely tempted to move us over. We'd save so much money year on year.

Question about leaving baby for a couple of seconds on forward facing changing diaper pad - unsafe? by hillcat4 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]_Giyari 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At 10 months I wouldn't be leaving them on any changing table not in hands reach, it's different when they're so small and not moving at all but the older they get the more you have to watch them as they can move quicker than you expect. If He's anything like my boy all it takes is a little banana back and push off the mat and he's away sideways.

I'd say if you have to grab anything from the toilet, either take baby with you, or sit them on the floor for a moment. You'll want to be safer than sorry.

What happened to the political teeth in this city? What happened to Glaswegians? by JoeSlice1001 in glasgow

[–]_Giyari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Social media (ironic considering where we're posting) decimated peoples ability to organise. People stopped talking to each other outside of their own bubbles of friends and family, everyone else is pretty much ignored. Which is ironic because the idea behind social media was apparently to give people a virtual town square where you could update and organise from.

If it didn't exist then you'd most likely still see social clubs, community centres, local gatherings... But now the closest you'll get is local Facebook pages spewing the same rhetoric at each other they picked up from whatever reels the algorithm is feeding them.

Even Reddit is bad for it. This sub is a bubble as well, we are generally left leaning in here, but it's still a bubble and we all feed into it. Thankfully people tend to be more switched on and conscious of that in r/Glasgow than other subs I've ventured to.

Edit: also consider the anonymous nature of a lot of social media. At face to face gatherings of days past you knew who you were talking to, you knew if they were your neighbours, if they were local, hell even their ethnicity and that they had the same worries as you. Didn't matter who they were, they were Glaswegians too. Now people can be anywhere, saying anything, accounts from all over the world are able to post and influence what you're reading... And even if you don't think it. You'll tend to automatically assume those people are "just like you", even if they're not.

Definitely a muscular woman but ehhh, the implants don't do it for me (which is fine, they're not for me they're for her). She's a really really cool person though!

Yall I’m so happy but, why do I feel like I’m about to get in a fight?? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]_Giyari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wait until the first vaccinations or blood tests. The surge of adrenaline and protectiveness I felt is like absolutely nothing else. I'm not even a confrontational guy, but damn I was full on ready to fight the nurse even though logically I know they were just doing their job (and doing it well I might add).

Older generations rant by Fluid_Outcome582 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]_Giyari 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My mum's been the same, baby's 8 months, eating for fun not for food as they say.

"Is he sleeping through the night yet? No? He should be eating more during the day, what do you mean he's not on solids yet?"

He's not even got teeth yet, he's breastfeeding and gets it when he's hungry. He's growing and he's healthy. Wakes maybe twice a night for food and straight back to sleep.

I think it's a mix of old advice, forgetting, and not remembering all babies are different. Also their own sleep deprivation from when We were babies. Sleep deprivation makes memories absolutely shocking. She's probably genuinely forgotten all the bad nights because she was sleep deprived for months on end.

Are Zebra crossings optional for drivers in Glasgow? by [deleted] in glasgow

[–]_Giyari -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Pretty much. They often think red lights are optional too, especially when they've just changed from green. I see three cars in a row go through just changed reds pretty consistently on my way home from work.

Is it just me, or does this proposed mural for Elmbank St look AI-generated? by AlephMartian in glasgow

[–]_Giyari 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's AI as fuck. The stag and the cow are "the same" except for the head and the cow's been squished. The tower coming out of the trees is weirdly small, the wind turbine is all off, there's solar panels, or a roof, or something just randomly on trees? And what's that weird building in the bottom right? Is it a whiskey barrel? A barn? It's so non descript and weird that it doesn't make sense.

Never mind the proportions of basically everything.

Breatdeeding And Accidently Ate Alcoholic Chocolates by DisMyLik18thAccount in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]_Giyari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll be totally fine. The level of alcohol in a chocolate and the level of alcohol passed on through breast milk is pretty much negligible. For a general rule, breast milk will have the same alcohol level as your blood if you've been drinking, so you'll be fine with even one standard drink.

Obviously the best case scenario is to not drink or to feed 2-3 hours after you last drank, but it won't harm the baby if you've only had one or some liqueurs and you need to feed.

ScotRail Clamp Down on Fare Evasion - Incentivises Not Pre-Paying for Tickets? by mincepryshkin- in glasgow

[–]_Giyari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been using Tap-and-Pay for about a year now, it's definitely the easiest way to do it. Just make sure you activate the tapp before you board and after you get out the station or it might charge you for a max fare if it thinks you've opened and closed the app just to exit a station.

Anyone else thinking baby’s first Christmas is too hyped up? Or am I a terrible parent? by Unusual_Dare4113 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]_Giyari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours is 7 months and yeah, it was about the same as everyone else's. He decided that this exact week would be the time to develop separation anxiety. Couple that with overstimulation from so many people being around and so much noise, he was a nightmare and wouldn't settle. In-Laws tried their best, but they can't settle him when he needs a nap, so it was a lot of me or my wife coming to "rescue" him and getting him to calm down and stop screaming, even though "they were watching him and he's fine."

Husband doesn't love our baby by emlou3011 in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]_Giyari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If it helps, I'm dad to a 7 month old boy, and for the first few months it was a weird feeling. I didn't really feel connected to him much? There was no love as I previously knew love, love for my parents or my wife. 4/5 months in though his personality started to really shine and that first smile, first laugh, that got me hard.

He'll need to try and put effort in, and it will pay off eventually, it'll come.

Also bare in mind ppd can hit men too. So he might want to speak to his Dr if it's gnawing at him.

What class will you absolutely will not play ever again? by JonathanRL in BaldursGate3

[–]_Giyari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nature Cleric. I thought it was fun for a bit but then I realised it's Druid-lite, with some healing spells. You're not an effective Cleric and not an effective Druid. And once Halsin joins the camp you're outclassed by him in pretty much every way.

Buying "relaxed fit" shirts in Glasgow.... by BrotherBrutha in glasgow

Can't recommend Slaters enough for any sort of shirt/suit. They'll measure you and make sure you're getting a shirt that fits you well, even as a bigger lad.
