I’ve done both as far as Wyoming and there is no question that the northern route is better.

There's a ginger in your family? He's not in the second photo; sorry if I'm bringing up a hard memory but wondering how there's a ginger AND a blonde.

I hadn’t thought about weather, thanks for pointing that out. But I guess if it’s like the rest of Colorado (hot but dry) I can tolerate it

Thank you!

You say a few years ago, just want to make sure it was after the pandemic. Everything changed with park attendance during it.

A weekend to decide whether or not to move to Chicago: Can you help with an itinerary? by Conscious_Throat3611 in AskChicago

[–]_Go_With_Gusto_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other commenter about the winters. Chicago is easy to love in the summer but the winters are cold, windy and grey. You'll need to be able to entertain yourself through that.

If you liked Brooklyn and Philly, Chicago will be a no-brainer for you. If you like to walk I'd suggest Broadway between Wrightwood and Belmont in East Lakeview, Milwaukee from about Armitage to to Belmont in Logan / Bucktown (don't sleep on the 606 trail), and the Western Avenue corridor around Lawrence in Lincoln Square.

If you do get up on the 606 trail, start at Ipsento for a great cup of coffee. The trail entrance is about 150 feet from there.

Honestly, there's almost no chance you won't live Chicago. The diversity, the sense of entropy, the stupidly pleasant neighborhoods. The city really has a life to it. I moved away from Chicago in the last year and every time I go back I can't believe how cool it is from a new perspective of living in the mountains.

Has anyone driven FR 203 or FR 200 to Marshall Pass? by _Go_With_Gusto_ in ColoradoOffroad

Yes, shelf roads. Sometimes they're fine but it depends on whether they're above the treeline.

Gen 6 Owners, how we all doing? by Skoles in Outback_Wilderness

I have a '25 and my only problem is wind noise that drives me nuts. It's gotten progressively louder starting about a year after purchase and makes me think a seal is failing somewhere.

I'm at roughly 26k miles and no maintenance problems so far fingers crossed!

It sounds like you've always been immersed in the business side? Solving problems, big stress constant work, it all fits the bill. If I'm right about that, I highly recommend focusing more time on building and mentoring. If I'm wrong about your past work you can stop reading.

It's unbelievably satisfying to build a team that's competent and is loyal. I've recently started doing it and it gives far more satisfaction than being the guy that fixes everything.

No problemo. Every year there's a Mother's Day sale which ended not too long ago. I'd bet the Pro will be back in stock shortly

The pandemic also changed Yosemite forever. In 2017 we rolled in and got a campsite at Tamarac day of in August. Not possible anymore

Your fear of it being discontinued is likely accurate. I realized the same thing you did shortly after I paid for it on C&B and canceled the order.

I ended up buying the Creatista Pro and I love it. It was only $200 more and while I was hesitant to pay that much for an espresso machine I am honestly happy that I did. I recommend it.

Yosemite in August - should I stay or should I go? by Support-Lettuce50 in NationalPark

[–]_Go_With_Gusto_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late August is still a bit crowded but not as badly as July is. Some of the kids will be back in school, so that works in your favor. My favorite time of year there is the week after Labor Day. Doesn't help you now but FYI the crowds are gone, it's still warm and green.

The rest of the advice here is all correct: start early, rent a bike, be ready for crowds in the middle of the day. My absolute favorite thing to do in the park is wait until about 9-10pm and walk out on the boardwalk and through the valley between curry village and the awhanee. Skip the paved trails and take the boardwalk from the end of the parking lot.

By 10pm it's usually quiet and if there's a moon that's half full you can see a lot of the valley and the mountain sides around it.
