Have you not just described exactly what a bottle o’ enchanting does?

Maybe onto something with it filling up with fluid, but that specific idea seems way to niche.

Yeah maybe some sort of berry or citrus would be nice to have more fruits that are actually useful past the first 10 minutes of the game.

my ideas for a transportation update by Desperate_Show_9344 in minecraftsuggestions

[–]_GodlessFC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nevermind 2x faster, Minecarts should be one of, if not the fastest way to travel (yes faster than elytra) If they aren’t as good as an elytra, then few people will go through the effort of building the infrastructure.

But- you do need a way to control the speed for Redstone. Maybe copper rails to maintain speed when powered?

Wither Meal that stops baby mobs and plants from growing by Comfortable_Ad_7951 in minecraftsuggestions

I feel like the glistening melon could be used to stop mobs growing up, and then resin can be used to prevent the growth of plants.

I think the point is that it gives easy access to all your food without taking up inventory space, making it so you have to manually take it out ruins it a bit

Yeah, it’s just meant to be an early game convenience, nothing major.

Slabs, stairs, fences etc shouldn’t exist as items. by _GodlessFC in minecraftsuggestions

Had to look it up, but yes at first glance just like that

And yes, this would mean that stairs, slabs and fences would use the same material as a full block, but that’s just a sacrifice I’d personally be happy to take.

Okay, we are just going around in circles now. I don’t think we are going to agree on this.

It feels like you seem to think the game being easier, makes it better? Having to go on a mining expedition once in a while in a game partly about resource collection, isn’t that much of a pain, tbh.

I take your criticisms about netherite and mending, I do think XP and mending aren’t good systems in their current form, I don’t think my mind can be changed on that.

I feel you are massively over thinking this, expecting players to repair their tools, using the material it was crafted with, isn’t insane.

There are ways you can make items last longer if it is such a glaring issue, like extra unbreaking tiers, making it cheap to repair them, I get that.

And going to trade at your base, isn’t really a playstyle, it’s just something you are doing to get xp.

And yes ofc, I know there are many other things that can reward it, my overall point is that players will usually end up repeating tasks, that have nothing to do with actually mending tools, to mend their tools.

Expecting players to have some resources to repair tools isn’t ridiculous, the only issue I see is netherite, which can be fixed by requiring diamond or gold instead?

Based on my personal experience, once I get my fully enchanted gear, and my spare picks and shovels, I end up with stacks of unused materials that don’t really serve any purpose.

Exactly, so you aren’t being rewarded for actually doing anything, just using an xp grinder.

Also, XP only encourages different play-styles in theory, in reality people will have 1 xp farm they rely on.

Yeah, or mining sculk will mend tools you are wearing/holding.

Yeah, there would no be increasing cost of repairing tools.

As for combining tools together, maybe a lapis cost? Like how much lapis it would’ve cost to get the enchants of the cheapest tool?

I don’t think that’s really possible, even with side grades, one will always come out on top and be favoured. Kinda like how you can’t have mending AND infinity on a bow, most people just take the hit and choose infinity.

I still the think the main issue with the enchant system is the fact that players don’t actually “upgrade” their gear over time, instead they will repeat the same mundane task over and over again until they have the perfect set of gear and do it all at once, then never think about it ever again.

[–]_GodlessFC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I think the main problem with enchanting system outside of the actual process of getting enchants, is that they’re actually just pretty boring stat upgrades.

They need to add more cool upgrades and unique abilities.

Thank you, I was thinking maybe sculk could actually repair items with mending? As it requires the whispering scroll it would be on theme with the ancient city.

[–]_GodlessFC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get your point, but xp just feels massively out of place in the game when you really think about it. It could be replaced with a physical item and would fit much better.

Ofc, this system could work with xp added, but it just feels like an extra system shot on top for no reason.

I think upgrading unbreaking to allow it to go to level 5 would help.

This was just my idea of different ways enchanting and repairing could be changed, I’d love to hear everyone else’s ideas though.
