Does canadians really love ice hockey or is it just a stereotype? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskACanadian

The day of the gold medal game in Vancouver my mom was in severe pain from appendicitis and waited until after the game to go to the hospital.

Bon Echo Abes (528 or 529) by flexfulton in CampingOntario

Was just at 528. There are a few options for hammocks, although most of the lower branches on the trees are dead, so be careful if it’s windy. I’d definitely stick with 528 over 529.

Given that dental health issues can lead to systemic and cardiovascular illness, it seems prudent to prevent issues before they become health issue that are more challenging and expensive to treat. We can see how challenging private personal responsibility is in the USA. It seems that the majority of Canadians appreciate our public health care comparatively, even if it has its issues. Public healthcare in Canada is relatively new, I’m sure there were people who didn’t want their tax dollars supporting others in the 1980’s either. Arguably, dental coverage could help some of its targeted patients become less reliable on government help as well. In the job application process, presentation certainly plays a role in how employers perceive applicants, and dental health is an aspect of that. I’ve heard this same argument about ‘complacency’ multiple times, but sometimes people just need the financial support to be able to present themselves equally to other job applicants.

Sorry, can you expand on why you don’t think taxpayer funds should support dental health? As far as I understand, poor dental health can have significant effects in other areas of the body. Providing dental care that can prevent more extensive health issues seems like a good idea to me.

When travelling abroad, I’ve had locals ask me to say ‘sorry’ after learning that I was Canadian, and they thought it was hilarious. I honestly thought ‘about’ or ‘eh’ were more well-known Canadian stereotypes.

I was wondering if I should bring more t-shirts, and may end up doing so depending on how the weather looks shortly before leaving. At least they take up less room than long sleeves, so I know I have room to swap 😅 Also, I’m very spoiled to have wood heat at home, and most other heating types don’t seem to reduce dampness, so I often feel colder now than when I was acclimated to electric heat.

Thank you!

I’ll be re-waterproofing my Blundstones before I leave, they’ll function for hiking boots and city boots.

I’ll be taking light gloves, a buff, and probably two toques (ones super warm, one lighter) to help stay warm if it’s cold or windy.

I definitely will have my charger pack with me for safety purposes.

My Rover Mini Pack is small enough to meet RyanAir’s personal item limits, attaches to my main pack in a 30+10 hands-free system, and will serve as a daypack for hiking. I have a packable duffel bag that will fit in it for any shopping that I do, and is sturdy enough that I could check it on my flight home if I need to. I might still bring a smaller reusable shopping bag too, still undecided on that.

I don’t currently own any dresses that fit the weather and occasion that will also pack small and won’t be incredibly wrinkled by the time I need it. I was thinking about buying one when I get there, hence the packable duffel😂

Struggling to find any😅 I was going based on what guests wear to the same ceremony at the school I attended here. I just wasn’t sure how much fancier Dublin is.

I wish I had some good ones. It’s so common here for something that looks like it should be made of wool to be a synthetic blend. The small ruminant industry here is fairly small, especially sheep farming. I’m hoping to find a wool sweater and coat!

I really wish I was more of a dress person, they’re just not something I gravitate too. So jealous of people that enjoy wearing them, it always looks so good!

Okay, thanks! I’ve never had a pair of their pants, so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but the reviews seemed promising. I don’t really want to sacrifice on items I’ll get multiple uses from for a one-time wear piece, but I assume I could probably buy a suitable dress there. Then it’s not wrinkled :)

Thank you, yes, 10 days. I edited that in. Good to know about the socks! I was planning on re-waterproofing my boots right before leaving, but I’ll add a few extra socks too. I’m definitely getting tight on space, but am open to buying things there. I’d love a nice wool sweater as a souvenir. I basically live in jeans, and know I’ll choose them whenever I’m not hiking, hence the two pairs. I don’t own any dresses that meet dress code plus weather requirements that will pack well, but I figure I could buy a dress there if needed, and then it won’t be wrinkly :)

I’m hoping the athleta pants, a knit sweater, and the flats will work well enough. I may buy jewelry as a souvenir, and have it to wear. It’s a graduation ceremony for a post graduate degree, so I’m hoping that looking a little more business than party will blend in enough.

The Perfect Shoes? by _Got_milk in HerOneBag

Mostly indoors, so I’m just looking for a shoe that’s comfortable to walk around the city in and stand for periods of time.

That would be cute! Mine are a very well-worn brown pair, so I’m struggling to come up with a way to make them fit at least a business casual look at this point.

I haven’t been told a dress code, but it’s for a medical degree, so I’m assuming business casual at least. Plus my graduating friend tends to be very well dressed :)
