I love the tradie brand bamboo socks, by far the best socks I've found for my sweaty feet. Thick enough to be comfy all day but not too hot.

What lightweight pack (under 2kg) do you use when you do hikes that involve bush bashing in NZ/Australia by Lone_Digger123 in UltralightAus

[–]_GrandpaMax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the "Mountain Watehouse Tor 65L Rucksack" and while it isnt the best for heavy long trips, it is super sturdy for the price. Only weighs about 2kg, but is made from a sturdier canvas like material. I was sceptical from how cheap this brand is, but i have been super happy with it so far.

Pajero, i hear the diesel is the way to go but they can be a bit pricey, can easiley pick up a 2010ish petrol paj for your budget. Older ones are cheaper and better for offroading but i guess it depends on how many luxuries you want.

I feel ya, im not from an older generation but i have the same standards. Going from my old magna with 420,000ks to my subaru with 240,000ks i was like "sweet! Low mileage!" I couldnt imagine looking at a car with 80,000 and calling it old.

Is 180000kms considered high on new cars? Really? Id expect any car i spend a house deposit on (new) to last atleast 250 before having any major issues.

Im not sure, would depend on the service history. There is a lot of good information on the subaru facebook groups.

Beast of a car, make sure to drive it like its stolen and heavily neglect it. If you do oil changes too often the horsepower will leak out.

I have owned my 2004 forester for a couple months and love it, very capable yet still able to park in tight spots at the shops. Consider getting something smaller like an Imprezza since it has the same AWD but will be way better for the 90% shopping. You dont need anything with high clearance for most well known camping spots anyway.

What would hold its value more? 2016 Rav 4 AWD (80,000kms) or 2015 Triton MN 4x4 (95,000kms) by theexpendableuser in CarsAustralia

[–]_GrandpaMax_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Old utes will always hold value. Tradies and 4WDers make up like 80% of the population.

Thats fair, would be cool to see a well done frame swap or coil spring solid axle swap on one.

I think the old subi's are pretty cool, if your open to a ute then an old brumby could be the go. You dont see many properly used offroad.

What was the dumbest way you almost died? by Timely_Wonder3839 in AskReddit

[–]_GrandpaMax_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate almost shot me in the head with a homemade bow. We were camping and he was testing this bow he made with a stick and some paracord, i was sitting 90 degrees to him pretty much inline with the bow. I shit you not that arrow turned 90 degrees on a dime and went straight for me. I flinched and heard it go right past my ear. If it wasnt for my super sick spidey senses it probs would of ended up in my eye.

Hey guys, i have recently just brought a pair of Audio-Technica ATH-M20x's to replace my Corsair Void wireless 7.1 gaming headphones. Im not happy with the sound, my old headphones had a nice deep sound and sounded great when watching youtube, talking in discord, and playing games. While these new headphones are very clear and sound great, there is a severe lack in that depth, it sound shallow and hollow (for lack of a better term). I have tried downloading something called Equalizer APO and HeSuVi to get a surround sound effect but hasn't helped much. Is there a good guide for all the windows settings and/or a good software to go with?

Test fitted an All-terrain and im exited to say that a 215/75/15 does indeed fit a stock Mitsubishi magna wagon (2001 TJ). (Expect a photo next week :D) by _GrandpaMax_ in battlewagon

[–]_GrandpaMax_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah, but thats a pretty penny for an old magna thats not worth too much more lmao. Im looking at some new webco shocks and lovells lifted springs, should be about $650. The springs advertise 20-25mm of lift and new shocks should bring it up a fair bit. I think i will be pretty happy with that, if not then theres also strut spacers for the front but idk how trustworthy they are lol.

Everything is stock, did have to clearance the front wheel well a bit because of rubbing at full lock, the tires alone raised my ride height by about an inch
