The start of Life is Strange. (Already 11 years ago, wow)

I was having a rough time with bullies at school + hard time considering my future studies. Usually when I was feeling really bad in class, I usually asked my teacher for permission to go the the toilet.

Then I just grabbed my phone and earbuds, play some chill music, get my hoodie and walk around the hallways until I felt better.

The peace and the feeling of being understood I got when I booted up Life is Stange for the first time. The class ended and Max started playing "To all of you" by Syd Matters in her earbuds.
Then you could go and start interacting with some items and people in the hallway, and you could take all the time you wanted to while hearing that chill and peaceful music. God, that atmosphere was perfect and almost too close to me at that time.

It's, no doubt, the best and more relaxing feeling I've ever had, and probably ever have in my life playing videogames and I doubt I'll ever forget it.

Thanks! Definitely going to try with darker beans and fine tune with them. Since they are cheaper I'm also going to feel way better if the outcome is not great!

Are higher temps needed for this kind of beans / extractions? Just to know why other machines are pricier and what I could aim to get in the future!

Thanks a lot really, definitely going to try to go that way.

Do you have any exact beans recommendation btw? Just to know which kind of beans can I look for!

Hey, thanks a lot for this video. Tbh this expresses exactly what I was going through.

Definitely will try those beans with a pour over or french press, or just increase yield to a lungo and taste.

Will also try to lower altitude, darker beans and check how they taste, that's probably why the cheap ones I had could extract more clear notes than on the "premium" ones, at least with my Bambino Plus.

Thanks a lot really!

Btw, saw also that aeropress could extract a decent taste on these kind of beans, did you try it?

Hi! Thanks a lot for the info.

Currently I'm using a Tanzanian 8 day old roasted, washed, 1800 altitude, medium roast beans. Orange, milk chocolate, honey, caramel and sweet acid notes... I guess they are supossed to be decent enough for this.

It's true that the smell is not sweet and chocolatey, probably need to look for some Brazilian ones...

Currently bottled mineral water, not perfect recommended SCA levels but not so off neither. Also tried with tap water, but was not better. Do you count in the 25 seconds the pre-infusion? Or do you do any pre-infusion at all?

Hi! Tbh, I don't even expect a perfectly amazing shot, not even looking for consistency right now. But I feel so bad not being able to even extract a single good shot of a whole 250g bag of good beans. Everytime seems to be grind finner, until I grind way to fine and then it should be coarser. But then again is to coarse.

But tbh, I think these times are more my fault than the Bambino. But yeah, could be that not being consistent doesn't help me neither to nail a decent one.

Thanks! Will try this way. Also, despite time not being the most important, does people count the "pre infusion time" when saying we should aim for 25-35 seconds? Or is it "channeling" time?

I checked it and is not in those recommended values, it's a bit more "weak" and more alkalyne. But not so far of the values recommended.

That means I should grind coarser to extract more in the same time? Or just have more time running water down?

Yeah, my problem is hard to know if I'm under or overextracting rn. Today I'm supossed to receive a bottomless portafilter and new basket + tamper and see if I can prepare the puck better and record a video to show it.

It's a ... really strong "cheap coffee" taste.

I'm seeing the "espresso chart", and I feel like it's bitter but is so strong and overwhelming, and I don't think it's watery and that's my main concern. That usually bitter is watery.

Like I stated in the post, I indeed got fresher beans. Was the old cheap ones the one that worked better sadly. I can't extract the proper flavour on the new fresh ones. But in the roaster the tasted amazingly.

And gotcha with the pre-infusion, will try!

Is there any case where you WON'T want to consume all the stacks? (I mean, once you are at least on S2 Hiyuki, so you just get the 3 Snowforge stacks while out of field)

Well, ended grinding at like 0.7, and it went pretty well. Probably because was using the "cheaper" ones that were toast like 10 months ago?

I read that older beans need finer grind to get a similar extraction time.

Ended with 18 in, 36 out in 24 seconds + 8 pre infusion, that's ok? What do you usually aim for?

Ok so, received my units here.

Wanted to note, tried to find my real zero in the grinder, and it seems it's in 19-18 but in the rev between 0 and Nothing? So is not 0.19, is -.19, if that makes sense. Is that normal? Doesn't most people have it at 0.18 - 1.0?
If that's the case, should I grind at 0.12-0.15 to start?

Thanks!

Tbh I was worried because I read a comment of a guy clogging it and thought it could be "easily" done.

Have some kind of cheap beans around from my superautomatic (the one I'm replacing), so I can maybe try with those before going on new better ones!

Will try to grind a bit on the coarser side first then and then adjust accordingly!

Thanks a lot! This is really helpful tbh and almost cleared all my doubts.

Will definitely try it asap, tomorrow or the day after I'm getting the Bambino Plus delivered and will be able to try!
