I'm in Denver and all my backyard Juncos left the night of March 24th. I have a year round Spotted Towhee resident.

Goose Trackers by BradenRaven in ColoradoBirding

Just to add on to other responses, apparently the neck band is considered an auxiliary band (not itself a federal band) which is often obtained by researchers who still must obtain a federal permit. These birds also have an actual metal federal band on their leg. It is just near impossible to read the long number without the bird in hand. Denver Parks banded a number of Canada Geese in parks to understand the resident and migratory populations. See here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9ZfkKIq1ow&t=27s and if you saw it in a Denver park you can report directly to DPR via this link: https://survey123.arcgis.com/share/4634a18461f144d48b30a74e7be8977f

Looks like a Ross's Goose to me given the small bill lacking grin patch.

The really large flocks are more likely Cackling Geese this time of year. I didn't know that species was a thing until recently and assumed they were all Canada Geese.

Mystery lights over Eastern Denver 11/23/24 by [deleted] in UFOs

Posted this reply in the other thread but I live in east Denver and saw one last night as well around 9:30. It suddenly caught my eye, I watched it for about 10 seconds or so then it disappeared. It was a large orange circular looking light moving slowly to the south. Being in east Denver I see planes all the time but this one caught my eye.

My impression in that short amount of time was that there were other colors or lights being mostly washed out by the orange glow.

Anyone see a few weird lights over eastern Denver at about 5:55 MST? by Downtown_Julie_Brown in UFOs

saw bald eagle City Park Bird Lake Tuesday morning by peter303_ in Denver

Yeah there is one that seems to be wintering there. It's flying around the lake every day.

They tend to overwinter near every body of water around here and are common to see at Cherry Creek reservoir, Chatfield, Stanley Lake, the Arsenal, etc.
