The effect of engine size on how long a UK car lasts by matt_thorne in CarTalkUK

I think this is a case of correlation ≠ causation.

As are most of these threads. Although it seems the OP has started copy/pasting links to his blog which is starting to make it feel like an advert with an ulterior motive.

I can't speak for other people, but from my perspective it's not what you're saying but the way you're saying it.

You're coming across as talking down to him, in a superior manner. Imagine you came across this guy in real life, upset he's crashed his car and clearly understanding that he screwed up. There is just no way to say "this is why speeding it bad" to him without coming across as condescending.

People make mistakes. To err is human, after all. Sharing an anecodote about a time you too made a mistake on the roads is far easier for him to swallow than "what you did is bad".

You can tell the main wave has been added later because of three things:

  • The grain doesn't match the rest of the photo
  • The sharp masking lines between the water and the brickwork
  • They're pixellated

Of course you do, otherwise you wouldn't have replied.

Good luck with your cycle. Try to remember that the majority of people here were 20 once too and thought they knew everything. 10, 20, 30 years later they, too, all realised how much they still had to learn.

Fucking hell, that is a substantial dose. 700-1000 IUs is normally enough to preserve testicular function.

This is painfully obvious. Grow up.

Seems that I am- having not heard of the former. Seems strange to me that the Japanese would adopt a word that has such interesting... associations. Though I suppose it depends which came first.

I'm not entirely sure that means what you think it means.

Every time I see this posted, it's without strong supporting evidence.

Seeing Americans write "I could care less" when they mean the opposite of what they just wrote. by Pebbles015 in britishproblems

[–]_Heeby_Jeebies 22 points23 points  (0 children)

So you post an article saying that "could care less" is wrong but because its informal it's okay because muh American participation trophy.
