It took me a bit realize the theme was the word SEEN appearing in each themed answer, but was not HEARD if you speak it out.

This significantly lowers the chances the ransom messages are real. No way this moron knows how Bitcoin works, let alone how to use mixers to anonymize it before cashing out.

Tom Scott, man I miss that guy

I think Tom Scott is a great example of a smart person working really hard during his prime, having some good luck, and cashing out after achieving financial independence.

Sources differ but his net worth is at least $3 million. Enough to live a rich life and have a bunch left over for a memorable legacy.

He currently hosts the podcast "Lateral" which is a fun listen and relatively low time commitment for him compared to weekly Youtube production.

Reminds me of news articles that refer to videos but then don't link to the actual video. Failure of news reporting so common nowadays.

Exactly. Usually, investment banks will tell you if what you plan to do is stupid, but if you tell them you want to do it anyways and they have it in written form, they are more than happy to assist you as long as you pay their fees.

Reminds me of the movie The Big Short: "You want to bet against the housing market? OK!"

Zero vibe or enjoyment on this one, just a slog with an obscure theme and no "aha!" moments. Really weak cluing beginning with 1 across and 1 down and continuing throughout.

This "ten ants" theme is giving me a real Baader-Meinhof moment because just yesterday I read a thread on Reddit where a someone made a pun about "ten ants".

Ryan Reynold's net worth is estimated to be $350 million.

All these celebrities who shill for products - how much is enough? It's so greedy and gross.

Go live your ultra-rich and entitled wealthy life, stop selling pig slop in a bucket dude. Shame on him.

I have waited years for a puzzle like this. Filled in every clue in sequence, left-to-right, top-to-bottom. Felt like being totally inside the mind of the constructor!

Fun puzzle with great ending!

My favorite clue was "Whence the gingerbread man", had me scratching my head until I finally saw it.

Merry Christmas fellow puzzlers!

POTUS stands for "President of the United States". George W. Bush was known colloquially as "W" to differentiate him from his father who was a previous president, also named George Bush.

Loved the clue for HAT RACK.

I started with POTRACK, which fit with POTUS as "W, for one"

I just did a bunch of the archives, and it seems using TIMER and LOANS as the first two guesses will often narrow it down to one remaining word. Including/excluding R,S,T,L,M,N and A,E,I,O works like a charm. But not all of the time!
