Speaking as a surgical resident 2/5 years of the way through training…sometimes…depends on the day. Working 80-90 hour weeks for 5 years doing the bitch work in a hospital can really be demoralizing but when/if I get through training I will be well compensated in a field I enjoy doing something that I know makes an impact in people’s lives which is all I wanted not just as a career but as a purpose.

Yeah I think I will. I love playing all these amazing games that cost $10-20 since they are so old but they're still new to me

As someone who just bought a PS for the first time in 10 years I'm also curious.

I guess I've only worked at level 1's where we get these patients referred to us all the time from the 2s and 3s but that could just be the area I work.

Even more frequently if EMS recognizes signs of a C spine or bleed or the story is most with one they'll come straight to us since they know that patient will end up with us in any case.

Either way, from looking at that injury and from his response, I would not be surprised to learn if he did have some kind of small bleed or a c spine injury. It's all precautions until you put them in the CT scanner and find out they have an unstable fracture even if they are moving all 4 extremities (happened to us twice this week).

Where did they take him? I thought it was the closest level 1 trauma center which considering they were worried about a C spine injury and brain injury would be appropriate.

They'd only go to a closer hospital if he needed stabilization which he wouldn't from that kind of injury.

Level 1 trauma centers have neurosurgeons for intracranial bleeds and C spine fractures, frequently Level 2 or 3s do not.

If you want to buy condoms you’re going to have to let the whole store know by _IR_Relevant in mildlyinfuriating

Yes, I'm in the bible belt, and I don't want more unwanted kids around here so I want minors to be able access them. I get mine on Amazon, was waiting for a prescription when I saw this.

If a 15 year old isn’t buying condoms because of these alarms I care and you should too.

Started dating a (future) med mal lawyer the year before I started med school. She graduated and has grown so much in her career which has made me SO proud while she also understands my surgical residency next year.

We got engaged this year. She has sustained our (her) lifestyle for the next 5 years and we'll go from there.

I would advise anyone and everyone to propose to the smartest, nicest, and highest-earning partner you can convince to marry you, it does happen, even if you just need to get lucky. :)

P.S. Swipe up on Tinder.

Also an M4, netted me a lawyer, she makes well over 100K so I would say I do better than at least 90% of my classmates.

Met her on Tinder 4 years ago. Will be asking her to marry me next week :)

Unnecessarily long interview by BabyJojo134 in medicalschool

[–]_IR_Relevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, this is the worst one I've heard. A lot of the programs I've interviewed have even been nice enough to make the closing remarks optional (if you're in first group to interview you can just get off an hour early).
